we don't discuss genre fiction books mate
you should find /sffg/ general, it's corral for manchildren
>fantasy book
>good
oxymoron
No. I don't know what you want, so here are some classics (pre-1970):
>The Worm Ouroboros – E. R. Eddison
>The King of Elfland's Daughter – Lord Dunsany
>Lud-in-theMist – Hope Mirrlees
>Titus Groan – Mervyn Peake
>The Fellowship of the Ring – J. R. R. Tolkien
>A Wizard of Earthsea – Ursula K. LeGuin
seconding this for op
Mary Sue has Mary Sue adventures in Mary Sue-land. Skip it.
Dunsany - The Sword of Welleran and Other Stories
That's cringeworthy garbage, don't read it. This is a really good trilogy, read this instead.
I can't comment on this book, but his Sci-Fi and short stories are top notch.
>John C. Shite
It's very good OP i enjoyed it
Read Zelazny's work, friend.
go to /sffg/, plenty of reccomendations there
what a vile picture to have on one's HDD
People on here will say it's shit because its genre fiction, and maybe they're not wrong, but if you're looking for the best genre fiction has to offer this is more or less it.
The book sucks. I will never buy a book from Rothfuss ever again.
The first third of the book is decent even though it takes some time to get into since it keeps switching from the present to the past (since the main character is telling his own story. Wow so meta).
Then the author takes every tangent necessary to never progress with the plot. It becomes a story about student loans and going to a shitty version of Hogwarts.
I know it's a trilogy and things won't be wrapped up in the first book, but the story felt like a huge waste of time. I've heard complaints of plot progression in the 2nd book, but that shit happens in book 1. I don't know how people have such poor tastes.
I think you have to unclench your mental sphincter here - it's a book that meanders in the world it's made, but just because most scenes are non-essential doesn't mean it's a bad read
Oh, fuck off.
I mean, it's pretty good, but there's a lot better fantasy out there.
>pic related
didn't like his writing tb h
There's literally NOTHING wrong with Wilde, who was, dare I say it, /ourguy/
