CUNY, and eventually St. John's University.
BA in Pure Math. MA in Pure Math. MSc in Education.
BA in 2012. MA in 2015. MSc anticipated May 2018.

Oh. And I'm a high school math teacher. Former research assistant in an optics lab.

1. I went to school at a fancy, well known place, but I didn't study. I mailed it in.
2. Economics.
3. I am studying on my own. Game Theory, learning cryptography, getting really interested in number theory but I need to do something to make money right now.

Yep, but too bad she's blonde

>Where did you study?
UNL (BS) and EPFL (MSc), US citizen wanted to try a master's abroad.
>What did you study?
Electrical engineering at both, focused on photonics for masters.
>What are you doing now?
At a top 3 ranked (EE) uni in the US for my 1st year of PhD focused in photonics. To be honest I should have stayed at EPFL or gone to ETHZ because now I have to take some courses again, get paid less, and will probably take a year or more longer than it would have been.

coming from abroad too, just graduated with a master's from both EPFL and another school

I can understand why going back to the US would be appealing though, don't feel too bad. I can't stand this country anymore.

>Americans have to take courses for their PHD
lol

Please elaborate on how you didn't like that country. Because I don't like it, too and enjoy people complaining about it

Why are you suffering friend?

Keep in mind most american programs don't require a masters to enter the PhD.

Harvard - A physical/chemical field, PhD
I'm still there.

First two years of an American PhD are coursework to earn a MS.

How do you like Harvard? I applying there for an Astronomy PhD program.

Harvard is dying and there is nothing that is going to stop its death. Sorry.

Wilderness Medicine and Philosophy dual major. I'll be able to make enough money to continue my education, perhaps get a major in mathematics and then pursue some master's or PhD. University of Utah. Currently working in sports medicine at an Olympic winter training non-profit. To be quite honest, as far as education goes I still don't know exactly where I will go. All I know is that money is a minimal issue for me- not because I am wealthy, but because I don't care too much about being wealthy. I just want to learn man.

Writing patents for an inventors lab. Don't know what to properly call it. They invent things. I work surrounded by engineers all day, they describe to me what they're inventing, I write proposals and patents about what they're making.

What you're referring to is called technical writing. I'm also an English major down the road at UVU and want to be a technical writer

3. Trying to get into grad school.

Ya I, along with what seems a growing number of people, don't really respect Harvard.#
Everything from the dude-bro chads who get in because daddy went there to the nigs who get in for being nigs are really killing its name.
The school couldn't be more alien to an average American person

1. University of Texas at Austin

2. Economics and Statistics, still in progress

3. Looking into grad school for Statistics, hopefully here at UT, then on to Wall Street or the data science thing that everyone has a hard on for right.

*right now.

If you really want to work on wall street you better go to school near there. Columbia Financial Engineering grads are almost guaranteed employment down there. Even NYU have a really good chance simply because of proximity

Oh and unrelated, but I want to give the girl in that picture the [math]\Delta[/math].

Sorry, I should have clarified what I meant by Wall Street. I mean I would like to work at an investment bank, hedge fund, etc. and it was easier to just categorize it under "Wall Street".

So not specifically on Wall Street, as we have offices here in the South as well, such as Houston, though some students made it out to wall street. Goldman Sachs, J.P. Morgan and many other IB's recruit from UT, as well as various hedge funds, VC and PE firms.

Based on your post though, I'll definitely give attending Columbia and NYU some thought. I still need to visit NY before starting the grad school application process though.

Thanks for the advice!

Nice, im a graduate in the fleet, cant wait to be a civilian again.

I wonder if my IQ is as much above the mean as her looks are. Probably nowhere near, actually. She's prettier than 99.99 % of people, no doubt. Makes me sad. I'll never get to breed her.

Judging by your post, you are right, she isn't below average.

Did you study two careers?

Budapest University of Technology and Economics

EE BSc
Biomedical Engineering MSc, same place

Halfway through MSc, work part time at a medical device company, developing incubators and incubator accessories

What happened to her pupils? Is she ok?

i studied physics and am still doing physics... i started my phd in nuclear and didnt like it so i transferred schools to study the unruh effect and qft in curved spacetime... my post doc is in an electrical engineering dept but i am still doing the same stuff... i am currently working on radiation reaction and cherenkov radiation type of things... whats even better is we are building an experiment that can actually measure these things... :)

trying to take better care of myself now... transferring midway through grad school caused a lot more stress than i had anticipated...

Dude, can you please tell me how is it living in Zurich?

I am very interested in transfering to ETH Zurich but I have no idea about costs of living there and average money requirement other than the costs for university itself.

I've looked at many reviews online but some say it is shit, some say it is good, some say cheapish, some say expensive as fuck. What am I to believe?

Thank you in advance

My life is a joke.

go fuck yourself

this has nothing to do with science or math

Such a joke I can't even write a whole post without a typo

Depends, really. There's been an influx of semi-decent IT jobs in Croatia with paychecks slightly above average, providing you get accepted; the requirements often looking like "must be proficient in [4-7] programming languages with min.4 years of experience". They expect you to be a jack of all trades, but most are okay with you learning as you go.
With masters, the odds of finding a job are more than decent, if you just keep networking and stay active in your field.

I see, thanks m8
