People don't seem to realize that by doing exactly this they'll have more time and money to live comfortably and write whatever they want. As far as money goes the most successful authors I personally know are SELF PUBLISHED programmers who've written technical books, and smut writers. If you're exceptional, or connected, or an ethnic with a difficult upbringing with some interesting material, you will find it extremely difficult to even get noticed.

Why on earth would I write content with your demographic as the target audience? Hello. I like to write something that everyone can enjoy. Something short and simple but with a happy ending and morale.

I mostly write children's books but I've only been published once.

I'll write for myself thanks. If you like it, you can buy a book. Just because you're rich enough to buy lots of copies doesn't mean you will, but if there are lots of people who like what I like they'll buy lots. This is hardly complex economics.

You'll learn that doesn't actually mean anything, in the long run. Can't buy you meaning, insight, etc. Plus so far it's led you to the point where you have to beg random arseholes on the Internet to "make you feel less lonely".
