So can we all agree that this is the best short story of all time?

So can we all agree that this is the best short story of all time?

>posting a french story on an english speaking board
congrats op, your pretentiousness level went up

>Borges
>French
fucking wew lad

No, that would be The Overcoat by Gogol, but it's up there.

I really need to stop browsing this board during american prime time

>calling Borges French
>complaining about foreign languages
>on cabildo discussing paraguayan ñanduti
>mfw

But Borges himself has better short stories such as "El Zahir".

Reminder that Herman Melville with Bartleby the Scrivener reigns supreme.

>not even borges' best

I really liked it, and i had this exact idea about sculpture (fairly unironically) before i read it.

el mejor cuento del mundo es tlon uqbar orbis tertius

giles

Sorry but it's no Overcoat

Why don't you do it

>Inventing Death of the Author by making fun of it before it existed

You only wish you could be this based.

...

It's a great short story. Is it better than The Dead by Joyce? Or In the Penal Colony by Kafka? Hard to say.

Lol no. Why do people like this story so much? I think it's good but that's it

Maybe Tlon uqbar is a better short story, but this is my favourite one too.

There's no need to rank them, all Borges' short stories from Ficciones, Aleph and Inquisiciones are all masterpieces.

>that would be The Overcoat by Gogol

Why do people like this story? I don't understand it. It's mediocre, at best, with a shoehorned ending.

Tell me, I want to see what you see in this.
