Daily reminder if you buy canned sardines...

Daily reminder if you buy canned sardines, always just buy them in water and make your own sauce if you want them with sauce. Don't even buy them tinned in olive oil.

Daily reminder that sardines taste like shit.

They honestly don't though. If you don't like them it's fine, you can leave.

what is wrong with canned sardines in olive oil?? i always get my canned fish in oil.

why the hell would i make a sauce for a 5 sec snack?

nigger it's not like I DRINK the olive oil.

But the ones packed in oil have a firmer texture and a smoother flavor

and then you have tasty oil that can be put on or in things.

The olive oil in it is the best part you retard.
Also has a lot of the good fats from the fish in it.
Dont buy cheap shitty sardines and buy good ones.
YOu literaly have no clue about canned fish. The oil is the vital part of it.

...

i buy sardines in spring water and then pour my quality olive oil on them

do you think canned sardines, even quality ones, will have quality olive oil? im not convinced. i prefer to control as many of my ingredients as possible.

>will have quality olive oil?
Nope. But it will have picked up flavors from the fish.

The problem with adding oil to fish packed in water is that the oil doesn't really soak into the fish since oil and water don't mix. Better to buy fish in oil, discard the oil if you don't want it, and then add your own oil.

Though it's also a bit odd to talk about "quality ingredients" with respect to canned fish. The overwhelming majority of canned fish is pretty crappy. There are some good brands but they can be outrageously expensive.

God Tier

I'm saying just use your own oil if you want them that way. Don't buy them drenched and soaking in it.

Daily reminder that canned fish in oil tastes better because the oil dissolves aromatic components. That's why older cans are so tasty, there's even a market for them.
