Give me a plot idea for a realistic YA story so I can write a best seller. High concept preferred

Give me a plot idea for a realistic YA story so I can write a best seller. High concept preferred.

I want to be on John Green's level.

Is there an example of a low concept YA novel?

A near-sighted amphibian dreams big but wastes his time on a mongolian airconditioning repair website

I can't think of any. You don't know what high concept is?
Realistic please.

Do the stock "novel writing literature professor" protagonist, but have him writing a YA series, and he tries to sleep with his teenaged fans.

He falls in love with a 16 year old girl who is diagnosed with cancer. The girl's doctor is also one of the novelist's wife's many lovers.

The four of them happen upon each other in the novelist's house the morning after a night of debauched cuckoldry. They all have breakfast together, and the novelist gives a fourty page sermon on breakfast cereals while the doctor fucks both his wife and his highschooler girlfriend on the table.

I do. I just thought that asking specifically for a high concept story idea seemed redundant.

girl
pacific north west
high school
missing person from high school
spoopy going-ons
girl and love interest go looking for the missing person
etc
idk

I walked Joanna to the station then came back to the apartment. Smoked cigarettes one after the other and did nothing, pretty much. Joanna asked me if I want to come over that night. I said no. Said that I need to spend that day alone. My hangover was making me very tired so I laid down and fell asleep instantly.
I dreamed of the city, the cold, catching trams, waiting... Meeting Annie. Tatyana was there, too. She looked so weird, her face was dark and striped with small cuts and blisters, like it was scorched. The rest of her body was normal. I thought: "How was I ever interested in her? She looks horrible". Then I found myself somewhere else. It was warm and humid and I was riding a bike on a mountain road. A car suddenly swerved too close to me and it pushed me off of a cliff. I was falling to my death from some two hundred meters of height. My heart was racing and, naturally, I started to panic. I shut my eyes tightly. The fear went away almost instantly. I knew that, as long as I kept my eyes closed, I won't feel a thing. Maybe I'll die, maybe not, but there will be no pain. The fall was going on for some time. I started thinking about death, the experience. Then, at a single moment, it hit me. I knew I was no longer living. No longer a human. I ceased to be alive, or I ceased to be human.
When I opened my eyes, I saw a gigantic dome sprawled over my head. It felt like home. Some Arab woman ran up to me and started shouting in a language I did not know. I remembered I wronged her somehow, but couldn't remember exactly how. Al I knew was, it had something to do with her daughter. I grabbed her violently by the throat and she went silent. The neck in my hand started shrinking and I felt the smooth texture of the skin change into something like feather. I was standing there holding a goose by the neck. It wiggled it's body frantically.
I pulled out a blade that I keep tucked behind my belt and started to cut under my fist, on the lower portion of the long, white, beautiful neck. The blood exploded in three or four strong spurts and I felt a little bad that the pretty white feathers were tainted. After I got rid of the body, I took the neck, that still had the head attached to it, and I repeated the process on the seam between the neck and the head. I took the piece of meat and left the head on the ground. It was still opening and closing it's mouth in a rhythmic fashion, staring at me as it did. I cooked and ate the neck later that day.

I would read this for the keks
Lol do this one but the professor is writing about the amphibian one

...

Write about the hardships of a migrant's voyage from Africa to Europe. Also, make sure to hand in the work under a Muslim pseudonym.

Two young teenage boys named Xeek and James are unpopular kids at their local highschool. They get bullied by gangs of popular cheerleaders girls and during one of these bullying sessions a perky blonde with green eyes is stepping on xeek with her barefoot when he gets visibly aroused and all the girls start laughing at him. The next day they drag him into the girls changeroom as James feebly trys to save him. When in the changeroom. The gang of skinny perfect girls all strip down to their bras and panties and start sexually teasing xeek forming a circle around the aroused and boyishly handsome school shooter looking type. They tear his clothes off and when they start to get too violent, he yanks the green eyed girls panties to her knees with one swift movement revealing her blonde bushel of public hairs. All the girls freeze in shock and the green eyed blonde who's name we learn is Caroll let's out a little scoff and eyes him with a dangerous mischief. Without pulling her panties back up, she walks over to xeek resulting in her panties falling to her ankles and stops when she's standing directly over his face. After what feels like an hour but was likely only a matter of seconds, Caroll's pale urine is soaking xeek's face.

That's the premise

Good one

relatable young adult not exactly loner but not popular wonders why he doesn't have girlfriend. Starts socialising with girls and even gets laid but is frustrated when he finds out afterwards they're not interesting in being gf. Cmes to realisation through experience that "getting gf" is possessive and that love is a mutual thing and that this is why he was never able to get gf. Fin.

what a fucking loser

i much prefer the alternative ending where he rapes a cute homeless girl in an alleyway while listening to brahms on his phone and then shoots himself as he lays next to her

NOW we're talking

Yes, one muslim girl's erotic journey from milan to minsk.

So all these ideas are bad

In the far future a post-apocalyptic city is centered around an extinct volcano. The right of passage for teenagers is to descend into the volcano's mouth and explore their way out of the labyrinthine interior. The story follows a group of friends who take the journey together where they find deadly obstacles, chasms, lava rivers, and lava-dwelling monsters nicknamed Salamanders. However due to a cave-in they are trapped and manage to find a hidden path that leads them into the bowels of the Earth instead of the way out. There they discover a secret society of underground dwellers who have preserved an ancient nuclear bomb which they plan to activate and set off a volcanic eruption to destroy the city above ground so they can take over the surface. The friends have to find a way to stop the secret society, or otherwise escape and warn the city about its doom.

Just copy the plot and style from one of the Persona videogames but make the main character a tranny.

What type of YA are you going for? RPGlit has been getting big in Russia. you could also do a cul de sac drama

This sounds like garbage yet I have a sense that it already exists

Do they find the person?

this
Then they make xeek take magic sex changing pill and teach him the pleasures of being a woman. it ends with Xeek becoming a bimbo and getting fucked by James

This actually sounds good. depending on the writing skill

go fuck yourselfie

That made me hard

1/2 Here's my YA potboiler idea. CC/suggestions on plot are appreciated. You can write it yourself if you want. I feel like it could turn into a Fault in Our Stars/Perks of Being a Wallflower knockoff.

>first person perspective, protagonist is a plain, easy self-insert girl in early high school.
>it's the beginning of the school year.
>she has an older brother who is starting his senior year. He's the secondary protagonist of the story and the bait for the teenage girls.
>during the summer before the beginning of the novel their father, a teacher who was well loved by students, commits suicide.
>through second hand stories you find out the son found him in his study after he killed himself. He called the cops and took care of the scene so his sister didn't have to be scarred by it. (Gotta build sympathy in readers for him)
>Suicideman was a good father to both, but especially close with the son. He taught him pretty advanced science/math and read the two of them tons of classics, passing down a love of literature mainly to the protagonists brother.
>no one really knows why he killed himself.
>The protagonist always looked up to her dad but felt like her brother was the golden child, despite this, she's close with him and doesn't resent him for it.
>the brother was a star athlete, overachiever, and stellar student who was on track to go to a top tier university as a physics major (or some impressive STEM field, maybe pre-med instead, that's sexier) with a minor in literature, maybe he even had a chance to get some scholarship money for a sport (make it some sort of niche but still athletic thing like water polo). I imagine him as the Homecoming King type.
>after the suicide the protagonist's brother stops caring about school. Not failing but he goes from straight As to Cs and Bs. He gets a lot more reckless to cope with the loss, more destructive and promiscuous compared to his old golden child ways. Maybe he starts trying some drugs that make him look rebellious to readers. But he remains very charismatic and a sympathetic character.
>The other teenagers feed his destructive ways, they don't ask him about how he's coping with the loss of his dad because they don't really care about him like his "real friends"

2/2
>he stops reading any literature when he used to read tons. Maybe he has become nihilistic or begins to struggle with existentialism.
>the protagonist buries herself in school to cope, and she starts obsessively reading old books her dad had in his home library, trying to understand why he killed himself, or find a way to deal with the loss herself, or find a way to help her brother heal.
>she also has to follow her brother around sometimes as she feels the tables have turned and she needs to look out for him now.
>some scenes about him doing dangerous shit and almost dying. IDK what normies do, go cliff jumping or play chicken with trains or something. Gotta make him look brave and again it's all about making teenage girls get wet over him.

I kind of ran out of solid ideas after that, but the start felt like it could be interesting enough to catch some casual YA type readers eye (and suicide is always a hot issue, look at 13 Reasons Why, just coming out and it's popular).

Gimme some good ideas on where I could go with it.

nah

What do you want the audience to learn? What's the message?

Jesus christ.
do you want me to pretend this is not infinite jest?
you ripped off the basic premise almost exactly with the sport star older sibling and the insecure younger one after a towering-father-figure's death.
then you throw in the drugs and the nihilistic existential shit....
do you realize?

>cute homeless girl
lose the cute
>listening to brahms on his phone
pretty nice though user

scene from the fault in our stars. Not a huge fan of green, never have been

10/10 would give glowing review

hey lit. I'm trying to find a short novel about an anthropomorphic (in that it thinks human thoughts) factory farmed chicken that escapes. Not as shitty as it sounds. Any ideas?

Like pic related kinda

why am i so bad at posting

Retell a historical event but turn the countries into highschool students, set within a high school.

A teenage boy and a teenage girl are in love. BUT, the teenage boy's "alter ego", who believes he is literally Karkat from Homestuck, jeopardizes the relationship. Can the girl's own fictionkin alter ego - Morty from Rick and Morty - prevent a catastrophe? (Yes.)

Oh, and the book is entirely in the form of social media posts and text messages.

I haven't read infinite jest lol

Maybe I picked up plot points through osmosis browsing lit? Is that what the books about?

I mean it's a potboiler, there doesn't have to be a real message does there? But maybe your right, I guess it could be about how young people can learn to deal with loss and death. What do you think could be a good message?

no one is on John Green's level friendo

A love triangle where she's forced to choose between her childhood friend and the leader of the rebellion
