Welcome to the Veeky Forums challenge: Vote Thread: PIZZA PIE Edition
****
The theme for this month was PIZZA
****
Dishes are judged on the following criteria, so keep that in mind when voting:
-Presentation: The appearance of items on the plate; plating skills -Originality: Creativity in composing the dish -Appeal: How appetizing the food looks/whether or not the dish appeals to your personal taste as a voter -Challenge Goals: How closely the entry followed the challenge goal(s)
The distinction between Presentation and Appeal: If someone submits an artfully arranged but burnt steak as an entry, it may score high in Presentation but low in appeal.
While you're voting, or not voting, why not suggest a theme for next month? Then people can vote on that, or not.
>Homemade paste, 1st layer is crème fraîche from Bordier, then ham slices, then potatoes, high quality raclette cheese, pancetta/coppa, and mozzarella di bufala on the top. >Then the usual spices and herbs, with a bit of msg because it does makes everything better. >For the potatoes, I slice them, pour some high quality butter on it (100g for 400g of potatoes), then put them in the over for one hour before putting them in pizza.
Gabriel Butler
Entry The Third by Snowman
>Here's my entry for this month, wanted to enter last month but messed up my dish, twice. Oh well, this time I got a decent one. I didn't want to just make a pizza cause that's boring and unoriginal, so here are my pizza twists, a great TWIST on the pizza concept.

Entry The Fifth by Corkscrew
>Corkscrew here, with my official entry.
>Deep-fried pizza from naples. The only way to make neapolitan pizza at home without investing $5000 in a pizza oven.
>Dough is 00 flour, water, salt and yeast cold fermented in the fridge for 24 hrs. Sauce is san marzano tomatoes, evoo, salt and half a clove of garlic. Fresh mozz, basil and pecorino to top.
>Dough was stretched out and shallow fired in a pan in canola. Once it turned a light golden turned on to paper towels to absorb excess oil. Sauce and toppings applied and pan under the broiler to melt the cheese.
>Really enjoyed it, crispy and moist crust, really quick to make too.
Xavier Bennett
Entry The Sixth by Mushka
>Roast pork broccoli rabe pizza with provolone and roasted red pepper sauce.
>The pork roast was marinated and baked in a mixture of dill, paprika, garlic powder, crushed red pepper, cracked pepper, salt, coriander, olive oil, brown mustard and dijon mustard then shredded in jus.
>The broccoli rabe was boiled until tender then sauteed in oil and garlic.
>The red peppers were roasted with garlic then pureed.
>All strong flavors that work really great together. The roast in particular smelled amazing.
Angel Jackson
Entry The Seventh by Dormdude
>So here's my entry: lángos style pizza stuffed with debrecener and lecsó.
>Also, s/o to shake-kun for the inspiration.
Lincoln Thomas
Entry The Eighth by AEST

Camden Mitchell
Entry The Tenth by sinistersalmon
>bechamel, fig, bell pepper, spinach >garnished with balsamic
>Spinach sauce pizza with smoked cheese, garlic pulled chicken and purple cabbage. And a pint of chestnut beer. >Not including the drink, this cost about $3.13 worth of ingredients to make and this pizza is two servings, so fairly economical, if time consuming to make the sauce and topping. >Leftover spinach sauce and pulled garlic chicken will find other uses during the next several days.
Cameron Hall
Entry The Fourteenth by envelope guy

Jack Fisher
Glad to have you back, numbaz.
Mason Sullivan
This one is the bomb. only good one.
Oliver Collins
Hey numbaz sorry to be a priss but you used the wrong image for my entry
Jayden Hernandez
Oh shit you're right! Sorry! This is the right picture for
Ian Myers
no worries, good to have you back. hope the break did you well.
Asher Young
You have to vote in all four categories for all entries for your vote to count. So that's zero votes so far. Bugger.
A little too generous with most of them, if you ask me.
Parker Brown
Too many to vote on right now but bump.
Isaac Reed
Thanks for de bump, brub. Vote niggas! Please, justify my existence!
Connor Kelly
Although I appreciate this, I don't think it's very fair. Also, you rate out of 5 not out of 10, you retard. I will rate later when I have the time.
Zachary Turner
I'll probably make this some time soon, looks great and easy to make.
Nathan Lewis
Thanks in advance bb
Liam Myers
Suggest themes if you like, but I'm pretty sure I know what next month will be. Also, batch votes are for fags. Vote proper or fuck off.

(P)resentation and (A)ppeal rated as described by Numbaz. (C)reativity/(O)riginality rated on its commonality and/or whether I've seen this on the back of a sack of flour or something (G)oal rated based on: is it pizza? (yes = 2 pts) is dough homemade> (yes = 1 pt) does it look/sound tasty/tempting? (yes = 1 pt) is it something new and/or does it stand out from the other entries? (yes to either = 1 pt)
P:1 all dat burnt shit A:3 few pizza can ever be below 3/5 C/O:1 is pepperoni, the most unoriginal topping ever G:2? is pizza but not sure if dough is homemade. is nothing new
P:2 all dat grease A:3 looks tasty despite grease C/O:3 potato and ham are uncommon toppings in most places, but not where i'm from G:4 is pizza, dough is homemade, but isn't too tempting and is nothing new
P:5 pretty pretty A:5 tasty tasty C/O:2 facebook-mom-tier idea G:5 is pizza, dough is homemade, is tempting and is something different from the rest
P:2 clean, but ain't nothin' there A:3 C/O:1 pepperoni, nigga G:2? is pizza, but not sure if dough is homemade
/P:3 kinda plain but leaves make it look good A:5 grew up on this shit and love it C/O:3 not common outside of naples area so it's a bit creative G:5? is pizza. while not sure if dough is homemade, corkscrew describes making it so benefit of the doubt. is tempting and is different from the rest
Lincoln Wright
Continued from P:5 looks like a fucking cookbook cover. impressed A:3,5 crust looks a tad too thin/crunchy for my liking as well as a bit too white but otherwise good C/O:4 roast pork and broccoli rabe with provolone is my favourite american sandwich but an uncommon combo for pizza topping. coupled with red pepper sauce, it's different enough to be warrant some points on originality. G:4? is pizza and, considering mamushka's past entries, i'm guessing the dough is homemade. while it sounds tasty, it's not removed from the norm enough for me to grant the last goal point.
P:2 it looks kinda bad. :( A:4 i fucking love eating lecso with langos and i bet it'd be good in pizza form, too C/O:5 it's barely recognisable as a pizza variant but when you take a second glance after being told what the fuck you're looking at, it becomes clearer. very different. G:3 again, it's barely recognisable as a pizza variant though i'm sure the dough is homemade. and while it sounds tasty and it's very different, it might be a bit too different because it leaves me questioning whether this is pizza at all.
P:3 i can't really tell what anything on it is, but it still looks good A:4 i fucks with it C/O:1 without knowing what the fuck i'm looking at and no description at all, i can't even begin to guess what's actually there so can only assume it ain't nothin' new G:3 is pizza and sounds tasty, but not sure if dough is homemade and without knowing what's on it, it just looks a bit typical
P:3 user gave me wood. with pizza on it. +1 for giving me wood A:3 C/O:1 pepperoni, nigga G:2? is pizza, but not sure if dough is homemade
Jaxon Brooks
is there still time for me to make an entry?
Owen Fisher
Continued from and P:2 looks nice, but is that on your floor? wtf, m8? A:3 while it doesn't sound very nice to me, sorry, i have to say that... C/O:3 ...the combination of ingredients is very different. woulda been higher had you found a cheese and wine to pair with it G:3 is pizza, but not sure if dough is homemade. is different enough to get an extra goal point but it doesn't sound too great to me.
P:3,5 nicely taken picture and nicely presented but... A:2 ... it's just storebought crackers with storebought shit on them C/O:1 it's just storebought crackers with storebought shit on them G:0,5 it's just storebought crackers with storebought shit on them
P:4 sometimes, when the food looks good enough, leaving it in the pan is a great way to take a pic of it A:3 looks good, but undercooked C/O:2 pretty typical, but never thought of gruyère on a pizza G:3 is pizza but not sure if dough is homemade. it sounds tasty, but it doesn't stand out.
P:4 nice to look at, colourful and extra point for beer. A:5 sounds good as fuck and looks a lot like a pizza from naples does, but not as burnt. also beer. C/O:5 never heard of spinach sauce on a pizza, never heard of purple cabbage on a pizza, never heard of this smoked cheese, never heard of pulled garlic chicken. completely new combination of ingredients. G:5 is pizza, dough is homemade, sounds/looks tasty and it's very new but still looks unmistakeably like a pizza.
Nathaniel Walker
Continued from / / P:1 does not look appetising at all. like you already took a bite out of it. and it looks like a pie missing its top crust. A:1 it just looks bad C/O:1 hawaiian pizza is a meme and 'go 'za is a meme. meme^meme is not a good look G:2? it's a pizza, i guess? but it doesn't look/sound good and i'm not sure the dough is homemade. while it stands out, it does it in a very poor way, sorry.
P:3 like the presliced pic. looks like a fancy pilaf. A:3 not my thing, but doesn't sound bad. like i said: few pizza can go below a 3 in appeal C/O:2 combination of ingredients is typical, but combining them in that way is not G:4 is pizza, dough is [presumably] homemade and stuffed crust + devil's pentagram makes it stand out.
>> P:0 troll entry A:2 but i'd still eat it C/O:0 college dorm tier shit; it's just storebought shit put under a grill G:1 is not pizza, dough/crust not homemade, stands out in the worst way, and it's not really tempting
Juan Gray
P:2 O:1 A:2 G:3 P:2 O:3 A:1 G:3 I don't see how those potatoes could have gone well in a pizza. P:5 O:5 A:5 G:3 Damn, great job snowman! P:2 O:1 A:2 G:3 P:2 O:4 A:4 G:5 P:4 O:4 A:2 G:4 This would be a lot better if it weren't for the crust. Still, pretty gud. P:2 O:4 A:3 G:4 P:2 O:2 A:4 G:2 P:3 O:1 A:3 G:2 P:3 O:5 A:5 G:5 P:2 O:2 A:1 G:3 P:2 O:3 A:4 G:4 P:3 O:5 A:5 G:5 P:2 O:4 A:1 G:3 P:3 O:4 A:3 G:5 P:2 O:3 A:1 G:2
My vote, for the next challenge goes for... OATS, my brother? I am quite famished.
Julian Reed
Please disregard my vote for since it was a different entry.
P:2 A:4 O:2 G:5

That should be everything. Quite a lot of entries this month. Looking forward to October.
Isaiah Brooks
Thanks for the votes!
Joshua Wilson
Four votes so far, keep 'em coming!
Ryder Wilson
>Four votes so far, keep 'em coming! But senpai there's so many to vote for!
Also suggesting X ingredient challenge as an idea. (Herbs/spices don't count, premade stuff != 1 ingredient)
Levi Miller
I was honestly surprised at the number of entries, figured on topping out at 12 or so. 16 is a lot of pizza, which is a good problem to have.
Jaxon Sanders
first time at deep dish. By CAVVY folded butter layered into made crust Fresh mozz homemade sauce
Colton Roberts
double down entry BY CAVVY new York style
Ryan Allen
Sorry CAVVY, but entries ended on the 24th. Keep that enthusiasm up though my man, next month is just around the corner!
Sebastian Anderson
Looks good, bud! This piece of greasy cardboard, not so much.
Michael Barnes
I'll keep an eye out! Could could I still get an informal r8?
Austin Hill
I see you have a style you prefer. It was surprisingly not as greasy as you may think.
Liam Gomez
If folks want to r8, they will. Thanks though, it's people like you that make me realise why I do this... alcohol.
Tyler Fisher
I'll give you an informal rating
P:3 Looks messy but tasty O:3 Deep dish is different, but nothing that special A:3 Looks decent, nothing special C:4 Alternative take on pizza, still being pizza 13/20
P:3 Looks neat but very greasy O:2 Pepperoni pizza, how boring A:3 Looks pretty tasty, but also very greasy C:3 It's a standard pizza, nothing original 11/20
Liam Ortiz
it's the heat window by the line at my job, not the floor lol
and yes we make dough in house then freeze it
Jason King
you know it would be cool if you were gonna do this, dont fucking disappear when people were still submitting, you fucked this month up, literal shit show...
Tyler Hill
This, how were people suppose to submit by the 24th when you didn't have a thread?
Juan Nguyen
You don't owe anyone here anything. You are doing this out of the kindness of your farts. I appreciate that.
Brody Lopez
Also, you made m e cri IRL in life. I'm dorry.
Jace Nelson
P:2 O:3 buter crust is different A:3 definitely good or a first try G:4 not 'za
P:3 only good looking roni pizza O:2 pretty standard A:4 looks good G:5 it's 'za
Nice job, cavvy
Luis Clark
My suggestion for next month even though Numbaz said 'i already have an idea for next month lol' is Mexican dishes that do not include any sort of tortilla. Thoughts?
Christian Collins
I like this idea but people are going to sperg out over 'muh authenticity', as they already do with every challenge though.
Leo Sullivan
Chocolate chip challenge
Connor Davis
Maybe if faggots didn't flood this board with absolute shit like Jack threads, McChicken threads, /mlp/ raids, pointless questions and endless memes, the good threads wouldn't need bumps every hour just to stay on the board.
Caleb Brooks
Mexican-inspired, then? Rather than muh authenticity. You can shove anything into a tortilla and call it Mexican. I just wanna see typically Mexican ingredients and flavours utilised in non-tortilla ways, is all. Though I think I'd detract points for simply taking typical taco fixings and just shoehorning it onto a bowl of rice or something.
Dylan Edwards
I was away from both computer and phone, so I kind of couldn't post the threads. Take this well timed bump as a form of consolation.
Daniel Watson
just quit making threads if youre gonna half ass it
Jaxon Cooper
I got back as soon as I could, to continue the glory!
Owen Robinson
For me the pizza is about the crust. Dough needs to be made at home and hand rolled to get a good thick outside crust. If not it needs to be deep-dish/detroit/sicilian style. These will be the considerations for the goals part of the rating P:2 A:4 O:2 G:3 A decent looking if uninspiring pizza. But something about it is very tasty looking
P:2 A:3 O:4 G:4 I've heard of doughs containing potato but not so much huge chunks of potato with ham and cheese. what it loses in appeal for that reason it gains in originality
P:5 A:2 O:3 G:3 Great looking dish but if I ordered pizza and got that, I'd be a bit disappointed.
P:4 A:3 O:1 G:3 Can't tell if it's a homemade crust and looks a bit too rich and thick
Rating myself P:3 A:4 O:4 G:4 Biased of course but something like this is what I want when I think of pizza. Could've been bigger and shot better.
P:5 A:4 O:3 G:3 Would've been the runaway winner for me if the dough was hand-stretched and cooked to a darker color.
P:2 A:3 O:4 G:3 With a better pic and some more explanation might've had a better score
P:3 A:2 O:2 G:3 Not a fan of everything on it pies and with access to a real oven this could've been much better.
P:4 A:3 O:1 G:4 Standard pizza but the crust looks good.
P:3 A:3 O:4 G:4 Too much crust to topping but otherwise a great entry.
Luis Adams
P:4 A:1 O:1 G:1 you put in more effort in framing the shot than in making the pizza
P:4 A:3 O:2 G:3 crust looks store-bought and pin-rolled. but too many ingredients on there
P:3 A:4 O:4 G:4 Good work all around. could've presented it better.
P:2 A:2 O:2 G:3 good looking crust is the saving grace
P:4 A:2 O:3 G:3 doesn't work for me from an appeal perspective but ticks other boxes.
P:2 A:1 O:1 G:1
Luis Mitchell
I wanted to enter but the thread was kill, I'll just repost my pics. Don't have to vote though unless you really want to.
Fresh mozzarella with birds eye chilis, ghost peppers in the sauce (also included: fresh garlic, a healthy amount of oregano, dash of cumin and thyme). Extra sharp cheddar on top and salt & pepper along with pepperoni. This one had a lot of green onions on top
Nathaniel White
after baking
Colton Baker
Same sauce etc but this one had the pepperoni on top and far less green onions. Oh yeah, also made the crust from scratch (meant to be thin, very little rising)
Leo Hughes
After baking.
Fucking delicious honestly. Made the sauce starting with plain tomato puree
Christian Scott
Oh yeah that one had some ricotta on it too. Made it nice and creamy.
Brayden Davis
P:3 A:3 O:3 G:3 dough could've been stretched out better. solid topping choices that work but not really next level.
Ryder Allen
OP here submissions will run until the end of the month. Thanks for all the participation
Brandon Carter
Thanks for the votes! Nice try buddy.
Mason Perez
I see multiple anons saying the dough looks store-bought, it isn't though. Granted, it doesn't look that good so it's understandable, but it was maybe the third or fourth time I made one, which probably explains it.
Josiah Ramirez
remember that we can't taste what you cook so descriptions of the processes and ingredients you used are important. you didn't say anything about your dough so i couldn't know whether or not it was homemade or storebought. and i never said it was storebought, just that i wasn't sure one way or the other tbf, i also said that your pizza looked good enough that leaving it in the pan was a great way to present it, so i don't doubt your ability to make something that looks or tastes good, just that i didn't know if your dough was homemade or not
Wyatt Butler
>pepperoni first, cheese on top finally some who know how it is done!
much better than my 4th attempt if that's any consolation. like the other user said, you have to make a call based on description and pic alone.
Benjamin Hall
Better than I could do, good on ya.
Grayson Hughes
I'll give you an informal rating just for posterity. Also, because the thread needs a bump P:3 Looks nice enough, but rather greasy O:2 Another pepperoni pizza, not very original A:4 Looks good, sauce sounds nice C:4 Just a standard pizza, nothing special, bonus for handmaking everything 13/20
Levi Martinez
What's next month going to be? I want to prepare.
Nathaniel Kelly
Don't worry m8, I'm just clarifying since I forgot to make a good description. And if something doesn't look good, well, that's on me anyways! Thanks for the appreciation.
Asher Nguyen
Instead of going with the easy pumpkin route, I'd suggest tomatoes. Jersey tomatoes are fucking incredible this time of year and available to most americans. Outside America, I think it's tomato season in most of the tomato growing world too.
