Mythology

Do you prefer Thomas Bulfinch;
or Edith Hamilton?

Wikipedia.

edith hamiltons entry about mythology is worth reading

everything else can be settled with

pseudo-apollodorus

>sirens with fish tails

Hamilton

This is what you desire OP.

Shouldn't the crest of a centurion be horizontal?

Bulfinch & Graves. Easily.

Read Calasso's The Marriage of Cadmus and Harmony and youll never ask yourself that question again.

I got Bullfinch, it's pretty good but too brief in the areas of my interest

I prefer Apollodorus.

Edith for all Greek needs. Thomas for everything else, Wiki is an alternative to Thomas.

Screw Thomas...

Both are pretty shit

I agree, but people who read pseudo-apollodorus have to realize that the book acts more as an encyclopedia. In reality all that is written by him summarizes all of the popular myths and stories (even summarizes Iliad and Odyssey). I recommend using it as reference text while reading Greek lit because most of the book is a dry data dump.

Helpful post. I'll bear that in mind.

The same Apollodorus supposed to have enabled Cleopatra to get in the palace of Alexandria to Julius Caesar and in this way to strengthen decisively her position in the power struggle with her brother Ptolemy XIII?

I don't know, but I doubt it.
