What drugs did he use? All the information I can find about him going to rehab just says "drug and alcohol abuse"

he snorted nutmeg. hardcore dude.

Cocaine, meth, amphetamines, and probably a lot of psychedelics. That's the feeling that I get.

are there any actual sources confirming this though? Also meth falls under amphetamines anyway

probably smoked a couple of joints while drunk, the combination of alcohol, weed, protestantism and Chris-chan levels of autism must have left him on a depersonalization trip and being the autist that he was he decided including 600 pages of "Leave drugs, embrace Jesus" in IJ was a good idea

He was "addicted" to weed.

meth is a different animal than amphetamines

It's a different animal than amphetamine itself, but amphetamines as a whole covers a huge range of drugs

he looks like the kinda dork who got drunk three times off alabama slammas in college and went around telling everyone he had a drinking problem to be cool.

This lmao. He thought we was addicted to weed. What a fucking pussy. No wonder he an heroed.

so I'm new here and I keep seeing threads abut this guy
Is he like Sam Hyde's bother or something

He's honestly not even worth talking about really. Guess it's kind of the humor.

>600 pages of "Leave drugs, embrace Jesus" in IJ
you haven't read IJ admit it

That was Gately's whole fucking trip, you mong.

point me to one single instance of "embrace Jesus" in the entire book, I'll wait

After the dinner

Jenkem

You've clearly never done amphetamines. The difference between a high dose of Adderall and meth is minimal (though your doctor won't tell you this), like the difference between Oxy and Heroin. I was addicted to both for a long time, and when I couldn't get any, using the substitutes worked just fine, though Adderall is less euphoric and takes longer to hit you since you have to eat it rather than smoke/IV.

I don't know EXACTLY where since I don't have the book, but there is AT LEAST one Gately chapter entirely devoted to AA's "superior power" and how he should accept it, but there's a subtle "american protestantism is the only salvation" tint in the whole book and you know it.

Not the guy who posted this originally but the most adderall I've ever done at once was 200 mg. Would that be like a meth hit?

the whole point of the AA program is to turn your will and your life over to a higher power. The AA program was developed in such a way that specific religions are not specified instead just something greater then yourself. Therefore the embrace Jesus thing comes from your personal upbringing and what your personal relationship with spirituality is.

DFW believed in a vague platonic God IIRC.

It's very similar, but like I said, meth is more euphoric and it hits you much faster. The way Adderall makes you more focused is about the same, but meth feel a little more like MDMA in that it made my entire body feel great, until it didn't.

It's certainly not Jesus. And certainly not the point. Awful, terrible reader you are.

viagra so he could keep fucking pre-op asian trannies

Gately's trip at the end is his way through the 12-step program. In some sense you are right, although I think you're simplifying it as your interpretation also leaves out the major theme of addiction and reconvery through the AA program

Genuinely hurt my feelings desu

Addiction=sin; recovery=redemption

This is DFW's simple-minded schema, not mine.

since recovery is a journey and not a destination this implies that redemption would never actually occur but would always be underway

Fucking bazinga
