How do you get rust out of cast iron?
Scrub as much of the rust out as you can with a scotch brite and cook in it
>throw cast iron skillet into fire
>wait for fire to burn itself out
>after cast iron skillet has cooled, grab it and wash with soap and water
>season cast iron skillet
>good as new
You don't. It adds to the flavor.
could just get some vinegar and let it soak for a day or two.
It's this, any other answer is trolling and/or retarded
what's wrong with vinegar
If it's really bad you can pay a machinist yo sandblast it down to the raw cast iron
oven cleaner you mong
just oil it and scrub the rust off
That's a bit extreme, and probably overkill.
I recently had to do this. Just scrub the fuck out of the rust with a steel scrubber pad, then re-season it since you probably fucked your seasoning up.
Why are you cooking for ants?
First post correct post.
You should also note that a little bit of rust isn't gonna kill you. It's a free iron supplement!
Fill it with a cupful or two of fine sand, some water and scrub it all out with a stiff bristled brush.
Scratch off the rust with a fork.
who are you quoting
boil vinegar in it
Why are you greentexting?

First take a larger picture, then we can assess the situation better. Details are important for this so we can give you correct advice. It could mean the difference between fixing or ruining your skillet forever.
Scrub it clean with some steel wool then coat with oil and bake.
Me on the right
this. and only this.
That's more for stripping off the whole seasoning so you can reseason it, which I've done with a few vintage pans. Not at all necessary for minor rust.
