Ranking Shakespeare's plays

How does this make you feel?
gentlyhewstone.com/2015/02/12/every-play-by-shakespeare-ranked-and-graded/

Nothing particularly exciting. I would have ranked Romeo and Juliet and Merchant of Venice a bit lower, and Henry V and Richard II a bit higher.

>UNIRONICALLY uses "its muhsoggykneestic" as an argument for why a play from the 16th century is bad
Into le trash it goes

>33. The Winter’s Tale
>uneven and prickly
>prickly

What the fuck? I couldn't get past that. One of my favorite plays and some cunt with a Simpsons blog calls it "prickly." What does that even mean?

Classic Paul Dano

Heh, didn't even consider their word choice. I'm guessing they wanted to describe it some other way, but their vocabulary is too limited; so they used "prickly".

>comedies in the top 10
dropped

>uneven
this applies to literally all of his plays

He got the garbage plays right

Are Dover's translations any good? I'm asking because they're really cheap on amazon.

>Mozart’s Symphony 41, Leonardo’s Mona Lisa, the Bible, the Constitution, the pyramids
Either bait or a serious case of middlebrow vulgarity

Translation from what language to what language?

My bad, I meant publisher, and it's English.

Oh okay. Dover is fine, but I use Folger because the left page has a guide to outdated phrases (I know that is pleb but whatever)

A lot of people just have the Oxford Complete Shakespeare.

>Leonardo’s Mona Lisa
a true embarrassment

It's not the worst ranking ever, but some of the blogger's reasoning is off.

>Shrew that low -- doesn't understand the framing device -- "as harshly tormenting too many characters, including Katarina." What?
>Winter's Tale that low
>Henry IV pt. 2 that low
>Comedy of Errors that high ("a cute early comedy")
>The Midsummer Night's Dream review
>"Paroles is truly spiteful"
>"I hate Romeo"

New Arden is great for extra contextual material

>he actually wrote "The Consitution"

Americans are always guaranteed to give you some nice keks.

They have no respect for the classics

Jesus Christ, that guy is all over the place. At least he admits it's just his personal opinion, but having an opinion doesn't mean it's a good one, or that you should voice it without analyzing it first.

its problematic in its depictions of gender stereotypes

>he is also a highschool teacher
>American education

>19. Troilus and Cressida

lmao how retarded can you be

Why is Dano such Classic Kino? And why does does he always get brutally beaten in his all his roles?

nonsense and typecasting.

I couldn't find any feasibly cheap versions of them.

>Cymbeline and Henry IV pt. 2 near bottom
>Henry VI Part I gets an A
Why don't I just slit my wrists now?

I don't need to read anything more than Measure for Measure being in A+, this guy is my nigga.
