It occurred to me the other day the reason we've never found any other life in the universe so far is that every species that's arises inevitably follows the same all-consuming path we do until they destroy their planet and wipe all traces of their existence away.

There are a number of decent explanations for this that have nothing to do with the capitalist AI mythology. First, the universe is "relatively" young, so we might be among the younger species in the galaxy. Second, much of the galaxy is likely to be uninhabitable because of gamma ray bursts occurring with greater frequency as you approach the galactic center, cooking life before it evolves. Third, assuming there are no loopholes in relativity allowing superluminal travel, it would take a very long time for even a very advanced species to colonize a galaxy, let alone more than one. Many coordination problems would arise due to superluminal communication issues. We are also not good at communicating with other hypothetical species due to attenuation of signals in the interstellar medium - you need to aim very precisely at where you want your signal to go if you want an alien species to hear it.

Also, there might be plenty of life-forms that aren't sentient.

Perhaps this is just Land giving in to the notion that the capital will not allow for development to come into a halt, and will do away with people's drivel as soon as it is no longer profitable/productive? The idea remains that, as far as accelerationism is concerned, our cultural distortions and "lack of values" are driven by the same forces that drive technology.

This is not because of someone's evil agenda but simply because culture has to be shaped into a market in order to be of any use to the capital, just like everything else has to. We perceive this as a loss of value only because all the kinds of virtues we had to attribute to things are now gone: today everything that matters has economic value, and economic value is the only value there is. So it is supposedly the same force driving the development of powerful AI right into our oblivion. By the way English is not my first language.
