Does anybody else feel like Pessoa's "Book of Disquiet" is the end game of literature?
Beyond plot, beyond character development, beyond desperate attempts to entertain and humour, beyond sequences of events and behaviour, his book just seems like the answer to the question of what literature can and should do.
Know what I mean?
Aaron Thomas
Not really. He seems more like a whiny bitch

Damn right OP. If more people read Pessoas works, maybe Veeky Forums wouldn't be an autistic shithole

also literature doesn't have an "endgame" because there's more to life than vidya you /v/edditor faggots

>Damn right OP. If more people read Pessoas works, maybe Veeky Forums wouldn't be an autistic shithole
you could reduce this to "If more people read, maybe Veeky Forums wouldn't be an autistic shithole"
the problem as with any internet board is that it self-selects for people who are bad at managing their time
the least autistic people are too busy reading or doing something else useful to hang around a place like this
Jayden Bailey
So does that mean , if people actually read, they wouldn't post shit on Veeky Forums? Is this how everyone on Veeky Forums gets exposed as pseuds?

Oh i get it because he wrote a play called endgame haha no.
Beckett is good, but he only achieves Beckett, if that makes any sense. He deals with death, loneliness and meaningless and does it extremely well, probably does it the best, but to say he does all that literature can do is idolatry.
Josiah Flores
kind of yeah

>DUDE I COULD HAVE DONE KANTS SYSTEM I JUST CHOSE NOT TO LMAO
Pessoa, and by extension spic poetry, is a memetic garbage of the highest order, bombastic and sophomoric, spics can meme about muh sonority and DUDE YOU JUST WOULDNT GET IT all they, it's just a way a subhuman monkey does damage control. Specifically Pessoa is just Eliot if Eliot was less erudite but a more insufferable whiny ponce for it.

No offense but you really should post less and read more.

>also literature doesn't have an "endgame" because there's more to life than vidya you /v/edditor faggots
"Endgame" is an idiom that comes from chess. Its usage in English predates vidya.

I loved books like this. I'd get my hands on every piece of genuinely depressing, nihilistic and soul crushing piece of literature I could find. It made me happy because I felt so empty inside and I wanted to feel not so alone in my existential anguish. Then, one day, I rediscovered God and now I'm soon to be married to the most wonderful woman I ever met. We are looking forward to having many children.
Kayden Long
I want to be like you

Studying Eastern religion helped me to reach a much more reasonable understanding of God. I'd always been very dismissive of religion, with the way it has been packaged in the West. However, I'm a Christian now. I know that this will be a lasting relationship because we have a very strong shared faith and she waited for marriage. The problem with most modern women (and men for that matter) is that they became too materialistic. And materialism is a very poor basis for any lasting bond.
Thank you

>holding the pussy for ransom until a man puts a ring on it >not materialistic
looks like u got tricked

If someone can't wait on principle, then pleasure rules over them. You should look at some statistics for the correlation between infidelity and number of non-marital partners. They are truly shocking. I would share some but I'm on my phone.

yes, and indians have a million stats how arranged marriages have less divorce than love marriages. i'm sure muslims have stats about how in countries were homosexuals are executed there are stronger marriages too. it's almost like if you live in a world of oppressive spooks people aren't free to do anything. wow.
Christian Torres
>implying that getting laid is more important than ensuring a good mother for your children
Owen Martin
>implying a repressed shrew will be a good mother
Daniel Ortiz
Tell me that the west is headed in a goos direction, that we have responsible parents, white people aren't just being bred out of existence in their own homelands, that culture isn't becoming commercialised and brain numbing. "Spooks" hold society together and ensure its survival.
Lincoln Kelly
>implying that a "career woman" feminist who opens her legs for strangers every weekend, will divorce her children's father and leave the children in daycare instead of raising them will be a good mother
>having existential crises >being dismissive of religion >becoming christian >studying eastern religion half heartedly >getting married >there are decent women >materialism is poor
god you are such a meme
Kayden Sullivan
Coming from an insufferable whiny ponce. And you were rightfully ignored by even the easily triggered latinos, which just shows how shit you are at baiting.
I admire the rage but there's something about this piece that lacks an edge. I'll give you a 6/10 but I can definitely see 8s and 10s from you in the future.

user, don't be that dumb. Every diary-like book is exactly like this. See Die Aufzeichnungen des Malte Laurids Brigge, The Pillow Book etc
Landon Edwards
It's just a diary--edgelord ramblings. I've never been more memed into a work than BoD.
I like Pessoa, but BoD is too often an exercise in tedium and far from his best work.
Fucking christ man lay off the red pills, doctor's orders, friendo.
