It's sad how few people actually know what world around them is made of.
Did you know that planet earth is something like 90% Iron, Oxygen, Silicone and Magnesium?
Every other element is trace amount compared to these.
Or how many actually know what fucking earth, as in dirt and rocks, are made of. Virtually no one.

Man I knew Veeky Forums was full of freshman and armchair scientists but damn.

Right? So much important science behind the substances of things and what features a material have, but physics got their claws deep in pop-sci so that's all we ever talk about.
