N A M E L E S S

Don't be silly.
If there WAS such a movement and a popular vote was taken, "Jim" wouldn't even be in the running.

off to the re-education camps

>Why have we, in the hundred thousand years of human development, not named the moon that orbits Earth?

The Moon is called "the Moon". How fucking retarded are people? The Moon isn't called that because it's a moon and people were just lazy, moons are named after the Moon. The entire category of objects was named after the Moon, not the other way around.

It's very common to name objects after their prototype; Cepheid variables, RR Lyrae stars, galaxies. To rename the original would defeat the point.

Luna is the Latin name. English is the modern language of science and in English it's the Moon. Capital letter is important, just like the Galaxy.

>English is the modern language of science and in English it's the Moon.
Go eat shit you stupid faggot, give me the English names of planets.
I will refresh your memory.
Mercury, Venus, [Terra], Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune
They are Roman gods, you nigger. Yes, even Terra.

this

Yes, those are the English names. That doesn't mean the words are only English words.

>They are Roman gods, you nigger.
Uranus. Retard.

worst petition i heard about in a while, i'd rather sign that shitty build a deathstar meme

I want to name it Bobby.

name it bobby jim, split the difference, and then it also can be abbreviated to bj for lulz

Also Terra isn't the proper term used in science, it's the Earth.

Uranus is a Roman god.
Eat shit.
>terrestrial
>lunar
>solar
you are a fucking idiot and I'm wasting my time with you

>entire category of objects
>satellites

Our galaxy has an actual name. It's called the Milky Way.

this sounds like something reddit would find funny.

No it's not. It's greek you retard.

>terrestrial

Yes those are root words. It doesn't mean you will find a scientific paper calling the Earth "Terra".

The Galaxy is a name. The word Galaxy actually comes from the Greek "galaxias" which means milky way. Before other galaxies were known to be much beyond ours galaxies were called Spiral Nebulae, and later became Island Universes and then, galaxies. The Galaxy gave it's name to all galaxies. Astronomers still refer to galactic and extragalactic astronomy to mean about the Milky Way and beyond it.

He's talking about moons you mongoloid.

>English is the only language scientific papers are written in

>Mercury (Roman)
>Venus (Roman)
>Earth (None)
>Mars (Roman)
>Jupiter (Roman)
>Saturn (Roman)
>Uranus (Greek)
>Neptune (Roman)
>Pluto (Roman)
>Eris (Greek)
>Makemake (Rapa Nui)
>Haumea (Hawaiian)
>Sedna (Inuit)
>Nibru (Babylonian)

Not all the planets are Greko-Roman

You're right, our moon's a girl in most of the cultures that have existed. All the myths I've ever heard at least.
