Outside of Mathematicians and Physicists, Engineers (barring probably industrial and civil) are actually smarter than the other professions in science. A Chemical Engineer is smarter than a Chemist. An EE undergrad in his sophmore year is smarter than a biologist with a doctorates.

I don't know if the Veeky Forums memes are real but I can tell you that the first and last engineering class I ever took was the most nightmarish experience of my academic career and the professor was the worst teacher I've ever had the misfortune of meeting. It was so bizarre because he only seemed to barely understand a fraction of the shit he was teaching and sometimes struck me as an outright fraud, yet this guy somehow was the dean of the engineering department in my university.
