Reading poetry

>reading poetry

>watching youtube videos of a retarded monkey

>retarded monkeys
They have operated a spaceship into space and made it back home...

you must be a retarded human

RETARDED monkeys, or regular monkeys?

Well a monkey is a monkey, innit?

God, poetry is such an over rated art form. Anyone who writes poetry is stuck up their own ass in pretentiousness. They use words that have been outdated for over a century because they think it makes them sound smart. The unique rhyming shtick ended when lyrics in song became more common.

I'm the one asking the fucking questions here, you gibbering spastic.

i saw a news story the other day right of this monkey who broke into a man's house, stole his clothes, and forged his social security information and emptied the guy's bank account to buy bananas

or it might have been a chimp

Is that the plot of the sequel to Ishmael?

Yes, I do. I rarely read novels now because of that.
no u

>The Jellyfish by Karl Pilkington.

I don't like jellyfish, they’re not a fish, they're just a blob.
They don’t have eyes, fins or scales like a cod.
They float about blind, stinging people in the seas,
And no one eats jellyfish with chips and mushy peas.
Get rid of 'em!

Karl is objectively the greatest man on the planet.

>>>/reddit/

reading poetry is like reading a graphic novel. i spend the whole time trying to appreciate it instead of just appreciating it. with prose novels i can just sit back and absorb the thoughts. poetry is too stressful and pretentious.

>Karl is reddit
Kys cuck

He's sure as fuck not Veeky Forums

>Karl "let the poor die I don't want a pay a tenner" Pilkington
>Reddit

Pick one.

There is a lot of middle ground between Veeky Forums and reddit, though, isn't there?

Karl writes a diary of his day to day activities
I'd take a bet and say that's more lit than you do on a day to day basis

There's nothing inherently literary about that.
Plenty of middle ground, and Karl stands firmly on the Reddit side.
This guy is famous from a fucking TV show, you're both fucking retarded.

Imagine the genius we'd stumble upon if he released his up to date diary. We'd have thousands of pages of his unadulterated banter.

>There's nothing inherently literary about that.
Are you retarded? The point is that there is absolutely nothing reddit about that.

>This guy is famous from a fucking TV show
And?

> and Karl stands firmly on the Reddit side.

Karl is a grown man who probably doesn't throw a bitchfit anything outside of Veeky Forums enters his mind. Grow up, mate.

>huur he's famous so he's reddit
Go away

Karl is the übermensch

Again, whether or not he's Reddit (he is) he's not fucking Veeky Forums, and 'banter' is neither prose nor poetry. Shoot yourself in the face.

He is objectively the funniest man alive.

>Yes, I do. I rarely read novels now because of that.

Novels waste a lot of time giving useless info. Poetry doesn't (at least not good poetry)

>God, poetry is such an over rated art form.

na ur just a shit reader

The best poetry can be found up inside your own ass.

A woman is fine,
And a sheep is divine,
pero la iguana es Numero Uno!

Veeky Forums's aversion to poetry is appalling. Yet it's not surprising when you consider that most "poetry" written in the last hundred years or so is awful, and that is what most people associate with poetry.

If you are genuinely looking to start liking poetry, revered as the highest pinnacle of art by many for thousands of years (except Plato), then here's a good list of poets to start with just to spur some interest in poetry:

Horace (odes)
John Keats (odes and sonnets)
Wilfred Owen ("Dulce et Decorum est," "Anthem for Doomed Youth," and "The Parable of the Old man and the Young")
Andrew Marvell ("Cromwell Ode" and "The Garden")
A.E. Housman (A Shropshire Lad)
William Blake (Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience)

Most of these poems are rather short, perfect for your shot attention span. Don't bother with longer poems like the Aeneid, Paradise Lost, and the Faerie Queen, unless you can comfortably read hyperbaton, the biggest obstacle for most when it comes to reading poetry (just a brief aside: if you want to read an example of horrible, amusing hyperbaton, take a look at the Bay Psalm Book's translation of Psalm 23).

Good luck.

Jesus. Why are you even on this board?

eugene onegin

Poetry is the endgame of literature.

wtf is this shit
