For the general topic, consider that Africa is not a place conducive to industry or societal development. Even the Nile does not provide a solid foundation for civilizations beyond the stone and bronze ages; the river provides a great bounty of food, but being surrounded by desert greatly diminishes the habitable area, meaning population density is too highly clustered around the food source itself. Creates a feedback loop of requiring more food, to feed more people who then have to grow more food. You need a decentralization of food production before industrial development can begin in earnest.
And that's not counting all the rainforests and other geographical features that make Africa a shitty area for societal development long-term, nor is it accounting for biology, historical events, etc.

True, but other early civilizations did more with less than Egypt, so to speak. And really it's not about a given society, it's more about the population within that society over a given stretch of time. Point being that Egypt possessed a huge number of benefits, but lacked a lot of basic developmental necessities - they had tons of open space, sure, but desert is not optimal terrain for developing localized agriculture which meant that there was a constant decision to be made about using the available arable land for food or industry, and food nearly always won. Yes they had irrigation projects to expand the land, but that still contributed to the feedback loop of agricultural development > population growth > agricultural development

To compare, other early societies outside of Africa and its deserts and rainforests had to contend with military invasion much more often, but they also were able to decentralize much more rapidly, which both made them more resistant to the damage caused by warfare and allowed them much faster industrial development. Hell, the Romans were bringing water wherever they wanted it, and used aqueducts for irrigation, industry and whatever else they wanted at will - as were various early civilizations closer to Egypt chronologically, albeit on a smaller scale.

And again, this is just one geological factor. Africa has almost all the cards against it, and what handful of advantages it did have were near irrevocably destroyed by various historical events including but not limited to the Atlantic slave trade.
