Life is pain

>Life is pain
Really!?

Yeah, its pretty bad

I wanna read Cioran, but do I really need to read Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Spinoza, Schopenhauer, Hegel, Kant, Nietszche, Heidegger, etccc first?

>he hasn't started with the Greeks

If I need to read them, I'll read them.

You most certainly do

You will not understand what suffering means if you don't take the time to go through all of those philosophers

Don't forget St Paul and Kierkegaard

nah cioran is ez pleb shit

LIFE IS LE PAIN!

BAIN?!?

You don't need to read them. Ignore that pretentious cunt.

>You cut them up, just like regular chickens?

Extremely chice thread OP

This. Same with Ligotti really. Just don't forget to move on to the big boys.

This post is great because there's many ways to interpret it.

>the big boys
Which are?

Mainländer and Weininger

Not him, but Descartes, Kant, Aristotle, Spinoza, Heidegger, or even Schopenhauer. These are pure philosophers.

Cioran is not a specialist, but an essayist (almost a poet) that deals seriously with philosophical questions, much like Joseph de Maistre or even Nietzsche.

>Weininger
Is this name for real holy shit, how can you take that seriously haha

All value judgements come down to 'muh feels'.

If you can get into the feels he starts from he's worth reading very much, but if you want to know 'is this feel true?' you're asking the wrong question.

Feels aren't truth-apt.

>Descartes
He was a great mathematican I've heard. But this man makes me rage so much, seeing his smug face, and there he is... there is in another non-fiction book I'm reading... everytime, that smug Descartes guy comes up with his funny stuff. It makes me greatly iconoclastic.

You might disagree, but that I think is the big problem with philosophy. Though it is not that science is fully immune from value judgement either. It is something purely human.

>add sunglasses
>suddenly the major French philosophers look like Oriental drug smugglers

It is one of them, but it is only a problem in so far as philosophy wants it to be not the case.

Philosophy is basically a naive detour from what the sophists had already figured out desu. A few millennia later it ends up in the same place.

Jack Nance is that you?

Lynch must have based Eraserhead on Cioran, there's too much overlap

Based himself on Cioran as well. Stole his look.
