Having an internet addiction is just saying you have a lack of better options for utilising those reward systems in your brain. People used to have the same accusation thrown at them for reading, or socialising - but never with the association of addiction. If you were productive and enjoyed your work and weren't suffering other consequences, no one would call it an addiction. This buzz word is ridiculous and unhelpful for getting people to understand their role in breaking psychological habits. If you're a person like myself who has to cut the thing out of there life completely to get a hold of the habit, you're going to have a hard time trying to survive in this tech world. One way I find that works is to indulge to the point that the desire returns no results, then unplug and travel, take up hiking, and then go back to being erotically fixated on the panopticon.
