ITT: Books that read like an anime

...

Fuckin Isekai trash

How the fuck does the illiad read like an anime?

If you aren't picturing JoJo bros and at girl goddesses then you are missing out.
I like to imagine Athena as a stoic loli who's armor is too big.

*qt girl goddesses

It really kinda does when you get into the heavy battle scenes later in the book. Goofy comparison but I couldn't help but think of DBZ a few times.

Also all the goddesses were qt anime grills too.

Athena best waifu.

no it doesn't fucking weeb kys

>When Diomedes gets a massive STR buff.

Yes it does fucking normie kys

I would watch Moby Dick anime

Paris: "You're so Kawaii Helen ~uguu ^_^"

Achilles: "I'm sorry sensei, I know you told me never to use this technique, but I have to, just this once"

Zeus: *squeezes hera's tits*

>I like to imagine Athena as a stoic loli who's armor is too big.

What is the most /a/ approved translation?

Book 5 is straight up Shounen

sweet. Been meaning to pick it up.

anybody read Gilgamesh? If so, is it worth a read? Always wanted to, myself.

Literal Nothing Personnel Kid! and **teleports behind you** moments.

...

It's just that your mind is rotten and everything you see is rotten.

Every one of you should stop reading.

These, and this.

infinite jest

>REEE STOP BRINGING YOUR PAST EXPERIENCES INTO LITERATURE

actually lmaoing at you

> he said on an anime imageboard
user I...

Fagles, easily. Lattimore and Fitzgerald are more classical (in both style and attempts to not be so 20th century-feeling) but Fagles gives a smooth contemporary reading that lets the big moments shine.

best shonenshit ever

Anime isn't a past experience

DBZ and Dragon Ball was inspired by Chinese mythology, I'm pretty sure, so it's not surprising that mythology reminds you of Dragon Ball.

It reads like a comic book, not an anime.
Yes and fuck yes. I prefer it to Homer myself.
He invented the emo edgelord. I don't think it's one of his finest accomplishments.
>it's another "it's another episode" episode
yes

Mr. "I'll have a dude in my book called 'Demon Carver'" is also pretty anime.

That one I agree

i want this kino

literally the first anime

Candide, Voltaire by far. Surprised that no one posted it.

well, this is actually anime

the bible lol

Why did he constantly get buffed

More like a season of Curb Your Enthusiasm than an anime.

His waifu was pissed of because Paris took Apfrodites bribe and started the Trojan War.

30% or so of the stories are basically the mc fucking a beautiful spirit/fox.

While this is true, it's nothing like anime. But you can see anime taking a hell of a lot of inspiration from it or maybe just Borges and Kafka,
who were themselves both inspired by it.

It doesn't but if youve spent most of your energy consuming anything thats what you'll refer to, ie the endless retarded allusions to Harry Potter

>be samson
>be a prisoner
>be forced to entertain captors
>"sensei, strengthen me. Let me go all out, just this once, to revenge myself on the philistines."
>power levels off the charts
>screams of terror all around as the pillars come down

"Now the temple was crowded with men and women; all the rulers of the Philistines were there, and on the roof were about three thousand men and women watching Samson perform."

Heh, nothin personal gentile.

Grandpa once said I had a "Samson complex".

Never in his wildest dreams could he imagine the self fulfilling prophecy he cursed himself with.

That is kind of hot

...

I really like it but I am finding the story extremely difficult to follow without reading chapter summaries online.

The Iliad?

yes

>Rick and Morty reaction image.
>Brainlet

How anime is the Quran? Genuinely curious

It's a typical shitty battle harem
I haven't actually read the Quran

>Hurr my only cultural touchstone is anime and pop culture so I have nothing to compare the Iliad to except for that

Everything by Murakami

Literally just bakemonogatari

Stop using the picture of jerry for your threads and posts. Just namefag already you gronk.

plebshit alright

the iliad doesn't read like an anime, you stupid faggot.

it reads like a catalogue.

Marfisa a cute.

wait a moment... is that...

Deviantart tier.

Is "Monkey" an acceptable abridgment?

is that really a boy?

Underrated

...

sports anime

I sincerely believe some shonen manga series is gonna be considered mythology hundreds or thousands of years in the future. I don't know which one, it may even be some composite of several series, but the appeal of epic battles and trickster gods really isn't that far off from what you might find in Shonen Jump.

Pretty much the original Sephiroth fanfic.

Wheel of Time is pure anime but somehow ended up in the wrong medium. It has fucking everything.
>tsunderes
>yanderes
>LITERAL harem
>tomboy
>cowtits
>warrior women
>magic battles and powerups
>swordfights
>fanservice that gets even fetishy at times
>waifus
>brown empress loli that knows kung fu
>misunderstandings and sexual tension and drama
>increasingly high stakes and a plot that just didn't know when to end
>graphic violence and gore

Snow Crash

Are you reading a poetic or prose translation?

trans faggot

>read like an anime
like right to left?

poetic

I am a proud straight male

That'd be where you're going wrong then. Try a prose one first, by all means. I recommend Rieu or Fagles.

>edgelord characters
>infinite power-ups
>over the top action
>are-are goddesses
>loli spoils of war
>pseudo-political themes
Truly the first anime

Anything by R Scott Bakker
Elric of Melniboné series

No.
If you don't read the entire Journey to the West then you're a brainlet

Damn. Twain making yet another genre

Thank you for the advice! I just downloaded Fagles' translation version.

I had no idea that there was a prose version, I will see how this affects my comprehension of the story/characters. I had just taken out the copy my library had.
