remove shell
scramble
let it boil until it solidifies

Boil some water with a fair bit of salt (at least a tablespoon). Add eggs. Set a timer of 8 minutes for medium boiled. Set out an ice bath. Place eggs in ice bath after timer goes off. Peel, eat.

1 minute on high in a 1000 watt microwave.
Thank me later

Boiling is for plebs. High test alphas steam their huevos.

By cooking it in water.

>superheat alkaline water in a dutch oven on the stove
>place egg in centre
>place in oven for 3 minutes at 390
>take out oven and leave to rest for 2 and half minutes

Eggs in a pot with just enough cold water to cover.

Bring to a boil.

Time starts when the water comes to a boil.

4 minutes for soft.
6 minutes for hard.

Shock in ice bath for about 10-15 minutes.

Peel under running water.

...

Not boiling an egg

This, it is best way to boil eggs. And put more than one they somehow share microwave energy and get better if you boil at least 12 at once.

Boiling denotes cooking with water at its vaporization point.

>with a fair bit of salt
absolutely pointless

Acquire egg. Boil it.

Raises the boiling point of the water.

1. Boil water in pot
2. Place egg(s) inside of water
3. Remove when done

what temperature?

Boiling.

> put eggs in water
> bring to boil
> shut off heat and cover
> set timer for 13 mins

wala

eggs are filled with mostly water

Lowers the boiling point but still a useless waste of salt

I struggled with softboiled eggs for years. I couldn't seem to maintain any sorts of consistency. The save stovetop at the same temp in the same pot with the same amount of water for the same time could come out raw or solid.
I must be clinically retarded.

My mum suggested an egg timer and I haven't failed since.

pro tip: press your face up against the microwave so you can absorb some of their mighty protein egg power

> set timer for 13 mins

lol, enjoy your burnt solid disgusting yolk.

eggs in pot
add water
bring to boil
turn off heat and wait 6 minutes
put eggs in ice water
wa la

trips of truth, ez peazy lemon squeezy

the microwaves will make holes in your eyes

thank you

Put eggs into room temp water and turn to high. Once a roiling boil is reached, turn the heat completely off and cover the pan. 6-8 minutes for like 2 eggs, but longer for more eggs.

boil water
add egg for 6 minutes
remove egg and add straight to ice bath

>cover eggs with cold water
>put over high heat
>when the water reaches a rolling boil set a timer for 10 minutes
>when the timer goes off immediately drain the water and move eggs to an ice bath

t. professional line cook bitch

Also, the eggs are typically easier to peel the sooner you do so.

but thats almost twice as long as it should be
your yolks start to turn green and smell farty by 9
8 is as far as I'm willing to take it but normally I go for 6-7

A small amount of salt does nothing to the boiling point of a large pot of water

As for OP the answer is put it into a pot of boiling water for exactly 5 minutes

This is also my exact method. 4 minutes for my perfect soft boiled runny yolk egg.

I literally use this exact method 2-3 times a week and they always turn out perfect. Maybe it's because I'm doing around a dozen eggs at once.

it raises the boiling point, friendo

...

4, 3, 2, 1, 5, 6

5, 1, 6, 2, 4, 3

Somewhere between 4 and 5 is the perfect boiled egg

These two get it.
I would say 6min for hard is a little fast and 10 a little slow but the method is right. It really comes down to the volume of water...how long those eggs linger in the simmer stage. And still...how do we define "boil"? A few bubbles a boil does not make...but it is cooking. Specific time are going to be determined by the individual...the number of eggs...size of the pot...amount of water...how well the burner heats.

But yeah...
Start cold so the eggs dont crack.
Shock immediatly to stop cooking
Peel soon after cooling because it prevents that weird gray yolk layer
Running water gets under the shell and aids in lifting away from the egg

I usually use 3-4 tablespoons.

Put them in this thing and wait til it goes ding

This.
That soft boiled egg isnt soft boiled enough, but the one less boiled is just a gooey mess

cover my eggs with cold water, put it on the stove and set the timer for 15 min. comes out perfect every time with a supple, beautiful yellow, non sulfur-y yolk.

Place eggs and water in electric kettle and turn on.
Wait until your kettle automatically turns off at boiling and start 8 minute timer.
At 8 minutes, drain water and submerge eggs in ice bath for 5-10 minutes.

I spent one second on google to save you a lifetime of wasted salt. you’re welcome

Salt is nice for pasta water, though, because the salt is absorbed into the pasta and gives a little more flavor. Not detracting from your point, but I thought it was good to note this.

58 grams is like 2 oz. That isn't a ton of salt 2-3 tablespoons is probably just about there.

King Cobra technique is best technique

I crack it open into a hot pan and fry it

1 half of a degree

>put the egg in the freezer
>take away the shell when it's frozen and still raw
>deep fry

You've got a poached fried egg youhoo

LISTEN HERE
>egg in cold water to boil
>once boil turn off heat without moving pot
>wait 8-10mins

absolute best method

worst directions

it gives different results depending on how fast your stove heats up and how much water you put in not to mention the exact point of boiling is subjective.

Is this a troll so I have to clean up an egg bomb in my microwave?

Always poach. Always ramen style gooey yolk.
Boil water
Create vortex with spoon
Pour cracked eggs into vortex
Reduce heat to simmer
Cook for 3 min 30 sec
Take out and eat immediately or put into ice water

i scream at it until the sonic energy tangles the proteins in a similar manner to boiling

Yeah
I mean I've never tried it but report back

tangles the proteins nigga hoh shit

This

Just ate 3 hard boiled eggs, didn't take pics but the yolks came out PERFECT
>cover eggs with water, 1 tbsp salt
>bring water to rolling boil
>turn off heat, cover & let sit for 11 minutes (13 for large eggs)
>scoop out eggs with slotted spoon, let sit in ice water for 5 mins
>whack with a spoon once then peel

I eat raw eggs everyday lol

I'd rather just fry it at that point

>boiling any longer than three minutes from a cold start

If you eat hard boiled you're a fucking mega pleb and need to fuck off.

>boil for 10 mins

Fuck off and die

>peel shell
>this happens

FIGHT!!!

The number of eggs? Lol!

He's not wrong, though.
If you throw a dozen eggs into a small pot of boiling water you'll reduce the temperature of that water significantly.
Especially if you keep your eggs in the fridge.

A tablespoon of salt has an insignificant effect on the boiling point of a pan of water.

People having disagreements about cooking times:

Some people put their eggs into cold water and turn up the heat.
Some people add the eggs only when the water is boiling/simmering.

This likely accounts for the major discrepancies you might have noticed.

Put eggs in water, with a dash of salt and a dash of baking soda (the latter is so it peels easily). Bring it to a rolling boil, then put a lid on the pot and leave it sitting for 14 minutes. Easy as hell.

This guy gets it.

yeah whatever samefag, here's your (you)

The vortex makes the whites harden around the yolk instead of splaying out everywhere.

Yeah, but its more work compared to a fried egg, which takes very little effort, is practically impossible to fuck up, plus you can season it while its cooking
