>Is consciousness the only thing out there?
probably not but it might as well be
No, but in practical sense yes.
try Berkeley
Kojeve
No, there is no consciousness, it's a stubbornly persistent illusion.
illusion implies somebody is aware and wrong, if you are going to fall for that meme use a different word
Has anyone ITT been taught by Pinkard / his translation of POS?
How good is it?
plato.stanford.edu
This.
And Pinkard's books on German idealism + Hegel (biography, Society of Reason etc.)
If you want to get a good summation of Hegel's though read Kojeve's 'Introduction to the reading of Hegel', if you want the opposed side of the argument read Leo Strauss's 'Natural Right and History'.
>implies somebody is aware
No it doesn't. Where is individuality implied?
Not that user, even if individuality wasn't implied and somehow there was a global awareness instead, illusion still implies that there is something being mis-perceived, with perception requiring awareness.
Just to clarify, when talking of consciousness do you think of humans and only humans or could an animal be conscious too?
yes, piggies would have consciousness too
>this is your brain on European philosophy
No, Consciousness can be both.
is that idea what is called phenomonology? Because Ive thought extensively about this back when I was ~14, and especially how it relates to music.
Chimpanzees, dolphins and pigs are conscious.
Idealism
Hegel does not say consciousness is all there is. The Absolute is all there is, and it is more unconscious than it is conscious.

>Is consciousness the only thing out there?
What are you on about? He never said this.
go read the Birth of Tragedy
The entire world is contingent for consciousness.
If you want a shape in space, you can vary it to any kind of geometry you want. No need for a differential or even connected manifold.
