Ignore politics for a second. Economis is a science. There are critically acclaimed left wing economists and critically acclaimed right wing economists though the right wingers outnumber the left wingers.
Read both, keep note which points the other side cannot refute that are remarkable to you and slowly build upon that.
Only then your ethics and politics i.e. how you evaluate certain pros and cons and what you aim to get out of implementing certain policies should come into play
