OP here. Reading the book, currently on page 75. Here and there there are some funny bits but the book is not really that funny at all. The story seems to progress somewhat slowly considering it's supposed to be a comedic book and the story is not really that engaging or interesting. Only reading it because of Frank.

More or less. There are some crazy and surreal things here and there. He expresses and characterizes suffering and horrors etc. and he takes a serious note in regards the character's suffering. Honestly, I expected just crazy non-sensical dialogue that is inherently funny but it seems so far quite coherent and honestly, not as funny as I expected.
