Maybe millenials have started growing their own food to avoid the Monsanto crap at the supermarkets.

costco exists now

Get rid of social media, main stream media, the internet, television, Hollywood, and radio.

This desu. Myself and several people I know started growing herbs, vegetables, and cow plants to sustain ourselves.

I'm more concerned about worthless fake news media like your pic.

NOOOOO

Marmalade is pretty good.
>t. Millennial

The answer is that millenials are poor and hungry.

You can grow cows from plants???

don't worry, communists run out of food.

I bought marmalade after watching the Paddington movies. Good stuff.

You've gone too far.

Hand plants work really well if you live by a shitty gas station

How do they even come up with this shit?

Millennials killing food is exactly why Gen Z is stuck eating Tide pods.

Indeed.

but you gotta be in the right social circles and know the right people to get the best seeds. there's like this whole underground nutrional black market.
this generation have seen how unhealthy their parents were from being fed crap that made for profit by the boomers.
vive la food revolution.

we just don't have any money and what little we do have goes to booze, drugs and cool shoes

Did you not know?

Why are there so many millenial hate threads on Veeky Forums? Millenials are 18-34. Are most of you faggots 40+ or some shit? Jesus christ

>Feb 2018
>Millenials are 18-34.

>why hate?
because millenials somehow combined the worst of all previous generations into the horrorshow we see before us today.

whoever coined the term millennial should be gassed

I think most 4channers are using "millennial" more correctly than researchers, to describe Generation Y (the generation actually born at or after the millennium).

What the fuck they were thinking naming the next few years after Gen X, Millennial, is beyond me. But to answer his question, Veeky Forums is just hating the post-2000 social media children that seem to have flooded the site.

can i grow herbs inside? like some kind of sketchy, legal weed dealer?

>Hey man, you got the shit?
>Man, what chu need, I got cilantro, basil, and some premo fuckin marjoram.

Isn't that Gen Z?
I thought millenials were like 85-99 babies?

You're right, I don't think they use the term Gen Y.

I'm just saying Veeky Forums misuses the term "millennial", though I feel it's more accurate.

i consider a millenial to be someone born in the current millenium. but the wikipedia definition is different and covers previous generations. probably edited by a boomer because all they want to do is create confusion and make profit.

It's not the internet definition, but when I think Millennials I think kids who grew up with smart phones being ubiquitous, or at least had them in high school. That's a completely different generation from people born in the mid-80's.

You know it's funny. The returning war heroes are often touted as the "greatest generation" when they may actually be the worst; because they created the hellspawn that are the boomers.

>Monsanto
>crap
Begone hippie

isn't it really obvious that they're getting more take away food?

Seems as if you're just too dumb to understand that

>What the fuck they were thinking naming the next few years after Gen X, Millennial, is beyond me
People who became adults around the millenial

youtube.com/channel/UC5zdi4KM3ewwfYMNo_KnU0A/videos

The definition is all over the place. Don't bother fixing this shit. Nobody bothers to specify the age range anyway when they talk about those.

I'd be happy to see "do Americans really..." replaced with "do millennials really..." but since 99% of "do Americans really..." posters are obsessed Americans talking about their favourite subject (ie. America) then it's never likely to happen.

We are shopping for fewer groceries because we are shopping for just ourselves, not an entire family. We are dining out less because we don't make that much money. Also, we'd rather not die of heart disease, so cutting back on how much we consume might not be a bad thing.

GMO is outlawed in my country. Now what.

This. They are basically a poorer and more retarded version of boomers.
Boomers are pricks but they are not ao retarded pricks. The reason why many of them are not dying so quickly (at least in Western Europe) is because they actually grew up eating excellent food and still eat better than millenials (less processed crap, fresher food etc).

This.

Also, the whining about millennials is old. If you aren't a millennial you either aren't old enough to be posting on this site or beyond the age that you should still be here. Gen Z is going to be way worse with this trend crap since their entire life literally exists on the internet.

You millennials just don't understand. This is what the entire internet used to be like before you trashed it with your social media. If anything, you're too young to be here. This is our last refuge.

memes aside, what is the actual explanation here? how is my generation eating out less, shopping less, and still fat as hell?

Drinking their meme food.

This site was always a refuge for social outcasts who don't give a fuck about social media, you oldfags and children have shit it up by making everything serious-business. This site used to be fun before you shitheads staggered over here to whine. Fucking newfag grandpa.

I have quite a few friends doing this. My brother and I just bought a pig from one of the local farms near us. There are tons of alternatives we can take advantage of now.

I have been on this site since 2006 and it has changed quite a lot. Maybe not so much for some of the slower boards but the others are much more tamed and politically correct now. And by that I don’t always mean posting baby fuck from that manga or some guy shoving his dick into a chocolate santa.

Been on this site for the same amount of time. I agree that it's changed a lot, but all it's become at this point is people whining about trends and how they're destroying our culture. Who cares? I don't want to talk about trends, I don't care even if they are stupid. I'm tired of every other post being "waaahhh millennials like something!"

People are simply more and more whiny and ironically enough, use this site just like an anonymous social media site. I might actually miss the days of guys shoving their dick into chocolate santa “for the lulz” after a dozen of “do it faggot”. I still come here because it still has less faggotry than anywhere else and that’s how shit the internet is anyway.
>inb4 you’re whining too
Just stating what’s going on.

It's kinda depressing how nobody does anything for fun anymore. Everything seems so bitter anymore and even when people are doing things it seems more like they're doing it to upset people who have different opinions then them. I wish things could just be fun to be fun without some ulterior agenda.

>Everything seems so bitter
because the internet used to be a boys club full of porn and funposting but then came social media and with it came women and their opinions, with feelings and emojis.

fuck women.

fuck em right in the pussy..

>This site was always a refuge for social outcasts
Correct'ish.
>you oldfags and children have shit it up by making everything serious-business
Please tell me you're misusing oldfag and don't think the original 4channers are ruining Veeky Forums.

I was using it to represent older people. I take it back now cause he was a pretty cool guy.

>millennials aren’t all fat
Well at least they are doing something right...

Its one extreme for another

You ever see a modern teen couple? Both the guy and girl look like skeletons

So? Skinny people are still better than fat people.

Yes but it still looks weird, and all it takes is one guy who lifts a little bit to take down 10 of these modern males. Skinnyfat is a good in between if you arent going to bother with exercising. Lanky ass sticks that break in the wind dont look good

There’s healthy skinny and unhealthy skinny.
Unhealthy skinny may not be as bad as obesity but neither do these people live long.

Those are the ones that go out in public. The others are just like every other generation's shut-ins; only it's worse thanks to social media. They have a synthetic interaction with the world so they never have to get off their rolls.

Shit makes video gaming and forum addiction look like an evening beer; these kids are on heroin completely detached from reality.

Yes, but they aren’t disgusting to look at, don’t stink, and don’t spill over into my airplane seat. I don’t care about them being healthy or unhealthy, I just know that fat people make my life hell in ways skinny people never could.

Of course people still do things for fun's sake. I know I do. Maybe you're just looking at the wrong things, in the wrong places. Or maybe you're just projecting or something. Sounds like you're taking the social media world a little too seriously.

>didn't have Internet until College
>no-one had mobile phones (flip phones) until College
>don't really understand or give a fuck about texting or social media
>had typewriters in highschool
>been working since age 12
I'm 33 and I have absolutely nothing in common with actual Millennials. I'd argue the oldest Millennials are just turning 30.

This.

I have no problem with "fat" people. But unclean and morbidly obese people need to be hospitalized.

It actually destroys EVERY organ simultaneously. It even impedes brain function, though there's something mentally wrong with you if you consume enough to feed 12 people a day. And you're a fucking burden on others if you can't fit through a door.

now you contribute to starvation, and probably suffer from it in a decade

You can be a millennial and still hate millennials in general.

How the fuck did humans survive for millions of years without McSanto™?

You're an actual millennial tho

Also your high school must have been fucking broke to have type writers in the late 90s early 2000s

by not being 8 billion

It's just senior citizens doing what they've done for ages, complain about kids these days.

>'What even is a millennial?'
>'LOL oldfags'
>'I-I'm not like all the OTHER millennials, grrrr, my peers make me so angry!'

A lot of them died of malnutrition/starvation...

you forgot REEEE BOOMERS REEEE I HATE YOUR GUTS MOMMY BABY WANT MILKY

and then some incoherent rage about how I'm not a video game designer because of the social justice warlords

I'd classify the first one as falling under the 'lol oldfags' umbrella, but good point on the second one.

Say hello to the Tin Man and Dorothy for me

Are millennials just not as fat as boomers?

Pretty much

Veeky Forums is literally social media. This is Facebook for fuck heads.

No Veeky Forums is antisocial media.

This.

I'm almost 50, and well aware that makes me an outlier here. I'm on the old side of Gen X. As far as food goes I like a lot of what the millennials are doing. Sure, the whole social media and smartphone obsession bugs me, and their conformity and general lack of lasciviousness creeps me out. But I think they're on point when it comes to food. Their rejection of Boomer mass produced mediocrity is a point in their favor. So is their embrace of DIY and artisanal foods. Sure, the instagram shit is silly, but I'd still rather eat what the millennals eat over boomer crap.

Fructose (see Robert Lustig video about sugar (AND metabolisation of sugars!)).

>Social media for anti-social people.

>2018
>Falling for the culinary jew

both those reports may be accurate. i am working on growing more than 50% of my food using aquaponics, automation and solar power. i will have my system setup to a place where i just have to plant once a year and no labor from there but harvest. growing fodder for bunnies soon for meat.

even dutch bucket gardening means you just have to arse yourself to water your plants once a month. why buy food?

Two poorly conducted surveys with different sample sizes and/or demographic spreads produced two results that contradict each other and someone made a clickbait article about it.
Most of these studies and surveys are conducted by marketers and not scientists so they can make the results say pretty much whatever they want, then they get passed on to blogs and shitty clickbait sites to generate ad revenue because everyone loves an inflammatory headline but doesn't give an actual fuck what the story says.

wait, i dont get this.
arent millennials the one who always make those food videos you see on youtube? shit like "tasty" video series.

also, arent they the ones responsible for those hipster like food concoctions like the flaming hot cheetos milkshake?

This guy gets it

>Boomers eat too much and get fat
>Gen Xers eat too much and get fat
>Millennials don't eat as much and don't get as fat
>Boomers and Xers lose their shit "OMG their not eating enough!!!!!!"
Also Millennials are a lot more conscious about food waste as well. So maybe their buying less food because they're not throwing as much of it away.

I do buy groceries, but I don't buy to the extent that my parents did. My mom would always fill the basket with junk like frozen dinners, dried box meals, and the like. Cereal was always a staple too. I never buy cereal because when I eat breakfast I would much rather something hearty, like an omelet or breakfast burrito/sandwich. Typically I will buy meats and produce that are on sale, freeze the meats, utilize the produce before it goes bad. Also dried legumes, rice, and pasta are always in my pantry. Canned tomatoes are a must as well because fuck jarred pasta sauce, that shit sucks.

As far as dining out goes, it's seldom for me. I purposefully avoid "going out" as any kind of celebration and just prefer to buy some nice meat/seafood and cook it at home. Besides, I have never had a steak cooked the way I like it from a restaurant. I enjoy blue rare.

It's too bad that you can't interpret an entire article's information just from a poorly written headline.
Or can you?

Ding ding ding!
Younger people don't make mass trips to grocery warehouse and shove their freezers full of TV dinners and boxed junk food.
They buy as they need and don't waste excess food.
It's not that they don't buy enough food, it's that the two previous generations habitually bought too much food.

This. Boomers buy way to much fucking shit when they go shopping when 90% of it is frozen or snacks. They fill their fridges and pantry to the brim and I have yet to meet a boomer that didn't own an equally stuffed deep-freezer.

I eat out a few times a week, and the rest of the time I go shopping for a few days meals at a time and otherwise only buy enough to replenish our stores of the basic.

I'm generally curious about your take on "conformity and lack of lasciviousness." Could you say some more about that?

What kind?

I think it also comes from boomers being too ignorant about the science of food entirely. They would much rather convenience (box dinners, frozen meals) as opposed to figuring out how to make something from scratch and even improve on it.

For example, I had tamales for the first time when I was like, 13. I asked my mom if she would make them sometime, and so she bought frozen tamales. They were alright, but not nearly as good as those from the mexican market. So, after I moved out, I went to that same mexican market, and bought the ingredients to make tamales; corn husks, masa, lard, and pork shoulder. It took a little trial and error to get the masa just right, but when I did, they came out perfect. To get to my point, I gave some to my mom. Her initial reaction was, "oh, what brand are these?"

We have drowned so much in the idea of "convenience" that the older generation has convinced itself that without it, some cuisines are impossible to make.

Oi nice reference
