Writing is the most accurate and reliable description of history. Also why is it acceptable to alter what we view as civilized people to include literally everyone.

Africa either had very minor civilizations with basic writing systems, or relied on a tiny upper class that knew how to write Arabic, Portuguese etc. who governed the vast swaths of illiterate Yam and Goat farmers.

Regardless, that rationalization is shit and Crash Course would be 100 times better if it simply didn't include the PC bullshit skits.

It's just a trend of politically correct historiography. Like all other trends in history, it'll either fade out due to the inability to correctly portrait history or it'll have its foundations strengthen by its use. Let's hope it's the first option.

Seriously though, west Africa did have some stuff going on, but it wasn't much. It was all fleeting based on the gold trade and didn't make any real attempt to administrate or organise. It's PC to overhype their accomplishments.

FUCK this channel makes me mad. In their episode about Alexander the Great they spent half the fucking thing talking about how historians were sexist.
