A long period of misplaced arrogance and military stagnation leading to the hilariously one-sided blowout that was 1806.

>Königsberg Castle was severely damaged during the bombing of Königsberg in World War II. The city came under the control of the USSR after the war and the Soviet authorities opted not to preserve the castle remains, claiming it was a centre of fascism.[2] Whatever remained of the castle was blown up and cleared away between 1967 and 1969.[3]
>The vision for the redevelopment was heavily influenced by works of Lúcio Costa and Oscar Niemeyer, specifically the development of the Brazilian city Brasília.[3] There were two architectural competitions for the redevelopment of the area, in 1964 and 1974, which included design firms from Moscow, Leningrad, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.[3] The design chosen was by the Kiev-born architect Yulian L. Shvartsbreim who was a laureate of the USSR state prize and well respected within Soviet Russia,[3] and his studio TsNIIEP.
>Construction started in 1970 on what was intended to be the central administration building of the Kaliningrad Oblast. The building is situated to the east of the former castle, near the former castle moat. Placing the heavy concrete structure on top of the ruins resulted in structural problems, not to mention that the castle itself was built on marshy soil.[3] The foundations proved to be inadequate to support the original 28-story plan and only 21 stories were completed.[4] Continuation of development was stopped in 1985 after the regional Party Committee lost interest in the project and ran out of funding.[5] In 1992 there was an attempt to finish the construction with Danish funding but it was abandoned. The building was left unfinished for many years.
>In 2005, for Kaliningrad's 60th and Königsberg's 750th anniversary, also marked by visit by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the exterior was painted light blue and windows were installed. The new color diminished the sense of brooding mass, but some criticized this update as a modern Potemkin façade.[6] The interior remained unfinished and unusable.
Jesus christ why does everything touched by russians turn to shit
Obviously it's a pity about the castle but it's a shame the building on the site is unfinished, it is impressive in its own right.
>tfw prussia is occupied by slavshit
Teutonics got btfo.
The foundation of Konigsberg was funded by Slavs. Just not Russian shits.
German unification.
If you read about Bismarck as an individual, he didn't even want unification among german-speaking peoples.
Bismarck was Prussian and he served the Prussian monarch, he didn't identify as German, just Prussian.
Germany should only have united under the Kleindeutsch idea, with Prussia and Austria being separate from Germany.
The Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth did not destroyed it when they had the chance.
It is unfinished you dumb fuck.
All brutalist architecture looks like it's unfinished. It's not pleasing.
Even if it was finished it looks like the ministry of truth had a child with a commieblock.
It all comes to taste, i think it would´v looked good if it were finished.
Because you're a memer with shit taste.
No, it's abandoned you stupid Ruskie fuck. Everything you touch dies.
I'm pretty sure that was no longer the case in his older age.
Why is the modern world such shit when looked at the past? Look at those streets and buildings top tier.
Will we ever have a revival of these things?
Post-modernism came along and convinced every third grader that drawing a bunch of squares constitutes as expressive architecture.
>Why is the modern world such shit when looked at the past?
because russians
Please explain. Am not saying your opinion is incorrect but how so
It's the fucking communists shitting on everything beautiful and replacing it with generic ugly shit. Go anywhere from East Berlin to Vladivostok and it all looks like the same copypasted commieblock brutalist garbage.
No profit in beautiful buildings.
Not this guy but this is what happened:
In the 15th century a union of some Prussian cities rebelled against the Teutonic order (who controlled the area back then). To get rid of the order's,rule they allied with the King of Poland and became an autonomous part of Poland. The remaining area of the Teutonic Knights, which would eventually become the secular duchy of Prussia, came under Polish sovereignity, too. This is what the guy you were replying to (he's likely some kind of Polish nationalist...) meant with Prussia being "Poland's bitch". Well...later they were not
They won and were incapable of handling victory. Like Sparta
They were. Deal with it.
I don't think Brandenburg ever feared the Poles very much, regardless of how they rebranded themselves after buying Teutonic land.
Not being Prussian.
As in not Greater Brandenburg, (German colony in Slavic and Baltic lands), with the label "Prussia" on it.
This is Prussia :
Germaniggers killed all the Prussians to please their sand god and then pretended to be Prussian so that nobody would notice
