What went wrong after him ?

What went wrong after him ?

BEHOLD, A MAN!

Kek

but chickens grow feathers so plucking a chicken doesn't make it featherless

People got caught up in language.

yes it does
Plato never specified the potential for feathers, just the lack thereof

also by his reckoning many dinosaurs would be humans

Behold an Australian man

Aristotle and the periPATHETICS with their bullshit maxim "Nothing is in the intellect that was not first in the senses"

It all went downhill ever since...

I honestly think that the logical conclusion to philosophy is Plato

A little Kant never hurts anyone

No one questioned him until 1500

When did you realise that Plato was right in his Republic?

2015

His successors dogmatized his thought experiments. They became doctrines rather than merely theories.

>implying aristotle didn't disagree with most of plato's thoughts

He was everything wrong though.

>What went wrong after him?
The persistent and intentional misinterpretation of his concept of the "republic" to justify a wide range of shitty governments that have very little to do with his hypothetical ideal.

>I've never even touched a copy of The Nicomachean Ethics.

>who is Diogenes
>who is Aristotle
>who is every philosopher that wasn't a Platonist

I know next to nothing about Plato, what's good about him?

Not all that much. He was basically the philosophical version of that guy who posts "FIRST!" in Youtube comments sections.

But he wasn't really the first (which actually fits your analogy) as there's a bunch of pre-socratics. I know his work formed a lot of the ethical basis of many subsequent philosophies and much of Christianity, but what made him so popular?

DIOGENES BTFO

>Many dinosaurs
>Featherless
Top lel man, where did you got that meme?

It got better

>guy who made a religion out of plato, complains about others making a religion out of plato
plotinus was a hack

Kant. And also Plato was what went wrong.

If I was Diogenes I would have cut Plato's legs off then said he wasnt a man
That would have been quality banter

Philosophy is needed when we are intellectually infantile.

Forty keks!

He planted the seed of his elitist anti-materialism into the soil of philosophy that eventually grew into Christianity. Basically he is the original nihilist.

Aren't the Sophist the original / earliest nihilists? More specifically: Gorgias or Portagoras?

>after him

He was the one who fucked it up. He was like Paul to Jesus.

Dioegenes was a meme master.

yes but they didn't dogmatize it, so it's okay.

Sophists were demonized in favor of crazy homeless people and gentry who supported being a philosopher with other sources of wealth.

>After this incident, "with broad flat nails" was added to Plato's definition.

Diogenes might have been a bum, but he had no delusions whatsoever^^
