I hear a lot from my leftist friends that Hitler was actually good for Germany prior to the war, the things like instating unions and building highways. Is this just an overblown and perpetuated meme, or did Hitler actually do a lot of good for his country? My knowledge of WW2 is extremely sparse, my school decided to focus on our country's(Australia's) involvement rather than teaching us something more macro.
I can't help but feel it's people trying to be contrarian and say he was kind of a good guy.

There was something to the nature of 50% unemployment in Germany in 1933 (where USA had 30%)
By the time of 1936 he had created full employment.
Sure a lot of that was digging ditches, but a good deal of that was used for military purposes.
Its debatable on how sustainable it was but but before war on Poland, Germany was the world's number 1 economy.

Completely false. The production of everyday goods went through the roof. The only reason household-item production went down was the need for armaments during the war. If France and Britain didn't declare war on Germany, their economy would have been sustainable indefinitely.
