yes but mozart sucks

Very rarely, I'm more likely to listen to jazz than classical or really any other type of genre.

Further proof that Mozart is underrated

>Veeky Forums does listen to classical music, right?
yes, but the classical period is objectively the worst.

I really like 1812 overture and Dvorak's New World Symphony.

>mfw you think all music before 20th century was 'classical'

Classical borders on my least favorite genre of orchestral music. The romantic and contemporary periods are amazing. How did you make a canon of western music without including Mahler? Wagner? Copland? GERSHWIN?? Please negro.

most recent classical music I listened to was some Lute and Flute compositions by Silvius Leopold Weiss. Very relaxing

Care to explain why?

> this shit

Also, this place has basically become /pol/ with more christfags, so why not ask there?

Retard

I love the masters!!
From the early French Baroque to the latest minimalism, the endless interpretations by so many artists.

The classics are not just Western heritage, they belong to the World.

This is high quality bait

>Copland
Copland is fucking shit and you know it.
>MUH TENDERLAND
>MUH RIPOFF OF A QUAKER HYMN

i like bach and i like him better on a synthesizer

Kill yourself please. You're infintely worse than the pianofags

I only listen to the music of the future.
youtube.com/watch?v=VHLmitA3o6g

I prefer baroque, but I do likes me some classic and romantic

I love Bach and the baroque, but I also am a big fan of Liszt and Chopin.

Amy cultural "canon" let it be literature or music is absolute cancer

I ain't much of an expert on on classical music but here's some symphonies I like

youtube.com/watch?v=62V-ALlLZSg
youtube.com/watch?v=a53s4jyCqqU

I only listen to light music because I can't be assed to sit through entire symphonies when I could be smoking weed instead.

Tchaikovsky>
Prove me wrong, protip, you can't.

>He doesn't smoke weed AND listen to symphonies

No Mahler?

>you will never receive a proper humanistic education
>you will forever be an autistic stemlord who relies on the guidance of anonymous posters on a Javanese Tijuana Bible mailing list to learn about any kind of high culture

/mu/ here, I thought I wanted classical discussion on Veeky Forums but I've been proven wrong.
Congratulation, you've confirmed to me that an anime imageboard is not a good place to discuss classical music.
or anything.

classic rock counts right

My post has a photo of the great symphonist Gustav Mahler.

yes!

Metal is the intellectual successor to classical music

It's really true once you think about it

You could at least learn what the word "symphony" means

He's better than nothing? I mean he's a little overrated, but not that bad.

Well, it sort of is. It is much more similar to classical music than other mainstream genres.

1. Germany
2. Austria
3. France
4. Russia
5. Italy
6. Poland/Czech/Hungary

1. Belgium
2. France
3. Britain
4. Germany and Austria

Italy's not there since everything they did the Germans did better. Russia's so low it's actually fallen off the charts.

I only listen to generative electronics, pleb.

/mu/ shitposting is the most impressive thing about that board

I have a bachelor degree in classical music performance and theory.

Spotted the 'murican

You know a list is shit when it doesn't mention the Netherlands anywhere.

I only listen to martial industrial, pleb

How can you not put Germany/Austria at no. 1? Mozart, Mahler, Brahms, Beethoven, Bach, literally all of the top composers are German.

>no Rammstein
>no Kraftwerk
>no Modern Talking
>no Laibach(I know their Slovene)

P L E B
L
E
B

That ain't classical music and those are not composers.

>ywn be this new

Anything other than Germany is wrong (besides early music, which would be French regions/Britain). All of Russia's best stuff is a copy of French and German music anyway.

Utter trash.
Metal is the stupidest knuckle dragging crap.

Please dazzle me with your intellectual fireworks.

There is NO pop music form that even comes close to the complexity and depth found in the Masters.

Metal head dullard.

Oh, please, I cannot wait for the explanation for this you nitwit.

Bring it on.

Are you a musician?
If so, please explain your statement.

are you 15?

Really?

Please cite examples.

Tchaikovsky?
Borodin?
Rimsky-Korsakoff?
Skryabin?
Stravinsky?
Richard Tauruskin wrote a two volume analysis of the Russian traditional influence on Stravinsky.

So back up your claim.

Rimsky-Korsakov and Tchaikovsky are gods. Prove me wrong.

> music
> complexity
Let's be honest here even most complex music is just another form of entertainment. If you don't try to play or compose one differences are negligible.

This.

This thread belongs on /mu/, for real.

/mu/ doesn't know shit about music. But so doesn't the rest of the internet unfortunately.

They both died.

Classical is the fedora of music.

What does that even mean??

Make some god-damn sense!

What are the greatest operas?

nothing beats Parsifal

>Skryabin
Who the fuck spells Scriabin this way? Also Russians literally had to import composers before the classical era because they were so stupid.

l'Orfeo by Monteverdi

youtube.com/watch?v=cDNPpsUaVYo
I like Ives

Those composers are great but not necessarily important for understanding the history of classical music. Also sported the fellow burger.

Here are some good links.

Russians didn't even start till the mid 19th century, and even then they mostly copied European shit. The only really important composers to come out of that cold hellhole were Stravinsky and Scriabin, maybe Shostakovich. Prokofiev is fair, but he's a Ukrainian.

/classical/ has to do this once a month when we get a new showoff kid. I see Veeky Forums hasn't been weaned yet
>attempts to into semantics
>can't into semantics

also, for the record, Classical era > Romantic era. additionally, Copland and Gershwin aren't contemporary era composers; they're trite American modernists. Even in that regard, they're both trumped by Ives.
