Will Russia ever reclaim its place as a world superpower again, or are they basically finished?

Will Russia ever reclaim its place as a world superpower again, or are they basically finished?

Inb4 wait until Trump is elected

They are to dependent on oil prices to do anything long lasting..

Finished.

Russia has always been an irrelevant shithole. It's past time it goes back.

>Russia has always been an irrelevant shithole

People honestly can't be this historically illiterate on a history board, can they?

All that stuff was done by Ukrainians. "Russians" didn't exist till the Soviet Union, before that they were just called Northern Ukrainians.

I had a feeling you were from a former SSR.

They have good short term policies of survival, like in Ukraine and Syria.

But overall their plan of action is unsustainable, and the best they can hope is maybe for the price of oil to go up.

Russia has the enmity of the most powerful human group living today, American Jews. They will not rest until Russia is destroyed and their people enslaved as a payback for pogroms a hundred years ago (they don't consider the mass murders under the Jewish-led Soviet Union as payback, neither the economic and social collapse of the 1990s as Jewish oligarchs looted Russia).

Russia is finished because they cannot defeat the Jews, and only a Jewish defeat can save Russia from breakup and destruction.

They came from the /pol/, user.

/pol/ loves Russia, though.

T. Shevchenko

Whats with all the russia threads lately? This isnt even a Veeky Forums thread.

Given their territorial extent they'll never be really "finished" but it's likely that until they'll see a figure like Peter the Great who will be enormously hated by current elites but at the same time will straighten-up corruption and modernise the economy, they'll lose their relevance progressively. At this point they're only relevant because of huge armament industry.

I don't see you complaining about all the Germany or Ireland threads

>Saami
>independent nation
In every piece of land they inhabit they are a small minority of hunters and herders, how could they even keep that territory when there's a big Russian city in the middle of it?

Russians would never accept to cede terrotory as there is a 'vatnost' going on among the populace desu.

Russia was always an undeveloped shithole feasting on conquered countries.

They've been a backwater murdering their own elites, that later got replaced by elites of the conquered territories (LOL). They have a lot of mongol, tatar and other steppe traditions that came with those elites.

Their biggest growth was after partitions of Poland when they gained huge and rich lands of Ukraine.

...

Not very likely anytime soon, they have awful demographics.

/pol/ loves Putin (the way he is represented in Western media, to be precise).

Thats a very different thing.

Superpowers are thing of the past. Wait 50 years and even USA would be irrelevant.

> 50 years
We have an optimist here, people.

Russia for the past several hundred years has been on the brink of greatness but not quite there. At times they were a superpower or an underestimated threat but they were not really on the level of other great powers. They were just one notch below. Even during the Soviet Union they were still behind the Americans.

I feel like that remains the case today. They're not quite on the level of China and USA or the EU if taken as a whole, but they're still a significant power bloc. A superpower? I dunno, but they're close to it.
