Type that in your own alphabet you forest cuck.

>romans invented the phoenician alphabet

>amazing warriors
>lost to the Romans
>somehow still better warriors?

This sounds weird but I always see Celts as a Tolkien-esque race of magical people (think elves) that died or slowly lost their magical quality, being absorbed by the (human) Roman populace. Probably because there's not much history written about them and they seem generally enigmatic.

Anybody else have this autistic outlook on a group of people in the past?

Romans were soldiers, Celts were warriors.

I'm no we wuz, but the modern perception that Celts were "nordic looking" is a misconception. I'm no anthropologist but it's actually sensible to believe they were more, shall I say middle eastern looking, for lack of a better description.

I know the modern day Brits want to play the we wuz celts n shiet, but it's not so.

pretty sure Tolkien did

I thought Brits preferred the we wuz Germanics line of thought

Welsh and Irish people can be dark as hell sometimes.

Britain's perception of celts came from picts from the beginnings of their history and the legends of Aurthur and Bodica

though I'm pretty sure the Briton Celts, Gaelic Celts, and Iberian Celts had really different cultures

Oh look, revisionist bullshit.

Because celts intermingled with ancient iberians to a certain extent. That's where the term Black Irish comes from, but even these people are mostly pale as fuck that dude in your photograph looks like he spent too long under the sun or in a tanning bed.

Phoenician alphabet loosely inspired the Greek alphabet, which was further changed to represent the modern Latin/Romanized alphabet we use today.

Try again.

Celts got the shit kicked out of them by everyone, they were awful warriors.

Celtics were often described as being fair skinned and tall, Germanics as red heads or blondes. Same with the Iranics for that matter.

>Celtics were often described as being fair skinned and tall
[citation needed]

>Got the shit kicked out of them
What is:
Viratius
Boudica
Brennen

>Boudica

>lel let me attack half garrisoned towns and civilians
>oh shit that's a real army
>oh no i lost
>oh and look i lost AND i had the entire supply train with me at the battle

Boudica was a net negative for the celts.

>Boudica
>attacked defenseless towns and slaughtered Roman colonials; mainly unarmed men, women, and children
>burned townships and villages allied with the Romans in a petty vendetta for revenge

>Celtics weren't fair skinned and tall
[citation needed]

That's retarded. t. celt. It's ridiculous the amount of English and Germans who fetishise celtic culture like this.

>tfw you learned it was pronounced kelt not selt

>all the anglo kids who said I was pronouncing it wrong when I was saying kelt

>it's actually sensible to believe they were more, shall I say middle eastern looking

LOL
O
L

>Phoenician alphabet loosely inspired the Greek alphabet

>Boudica

They still are.

...

Yeah, thanks for proving my point?

>mfw my normalfag friends have no idea what I'm talking about when I utter the word [kaisar]

The greek alphabet is a form of the pheonician, the latin alphabet is a form of the greek alphabet

Latin is considerably different in morphology alone, so no saying its a "form" of Greek alphabet is retarded.

Then why is Gaelic a dying language?

Yet the guy has blue eyes something in which many anglos do not have

>t. celt

you mean
>t.American with 1/8th Welsh ancestry

>Boudica
>literally only famous for being female
She lost too

Because making an entire country re-learn a language that is already the global language out of pure nationalism is absolutely retarded.

>Then why is Gaelic a dying language?
Scottish Gaelic is dying but Irish is growing. Scots are cucks though, so no surprises there.

Nah I'm from Ireland. I didn't know Americans claimed Welsh ancestry

Reminder that the Celts were cucks as their religion actively encouraged wife sharing.

Scottish are more closely related to the English then the Irish in the first place.

>Reminder that the Celts were cucks as their religion actively encouraged wife sharing.
Reminder that Romans were cucks because their wives got GAULED

Welsh is still spoken by around 20 percent of the population if thats the best celtic nations can do
Gaelic is fucked.

They don't. Nobody wants to claim Welsh ancestry, it's more of a fact of life.

Irish has seen a minor increase in the number of speakers (both in daily use and those identifying as competent) from the last census, I'm sure this census will show another increase.

Eh, we'll claim anything if we go autistic enough.

Then Celts got cucked by Romans even harder as they were conquered.

>wanting to break off with no plans for separate currency, defense, or really anything.
>but muh bagpipes
>muh kilts
>muh freedom

Why do anti-English and Irishfags claim that the English aren't Celtic?

Because the Angles, Saxons, Danes and Normans weren't Celts.

So what? Isn't the majority of Saxon/Germanic influence largely isolated to Southern England? And most English are still genetically Celtic.

There's more to culture than just blood. The Irish still have at least -some- Gaelic culture (their form of English is structured differently, they play Gaelic sports), the English have a more distinct culture. I wouldn't have put them in a Celtic or Germanic group at this point.

Why didn't Neptune save them?

The Irish were heavily influenced by the Norse too for example. Either way, the English are still primarily a Celtic people. Just as the French are as well.

>The Irish were heavily influenced by the Norse too for example.
The Norse were more affected (see: Norse-Gaels) than the Gaels themselves were. Up until the Plantations, the Gaels had managed to subsume several groups into their culture.

>Either way, the English are still primarily a Celtic people. Just as the French are as well.
The French are more Mediterranean than they are Celtic.

The Mediterranean is a region, not a racial or ethnic group. The modern French language itself still retains something over 200+ Gaelic words that survived the language transition from Vulgar Latin, for example.

And genetically and anthropologically they are largely despite mixing with Romans and the Franks, still Celtic.

literally you

>genetically Celtic.
no such thing. Celtic is a cultural term and England is not one of the 6 celtic countries.

Really most people on the British Isles are primarily pre-celt. The distinction is usually culture and language and the evil anglo suppressed every celtic language it could. The celtic nations have a very peculiar sort of English, but it's English. That basically leaves culture and the English have entirely divorced themselves from the celtic label. Before we could look up genetic lineage the English insisted they were 100% germanic, they want nothing to do with celtic identity.

Regardless of your definition of "culture", the overwhelming majority of English are genetically closer to pre-Germanized Celtics on the Isles then Germanics themselves, even after said assimilation.

>Really most people on the British Isles are primarily pre-celt.
Debatable. Pre-La Tene, definitely but it's very unclear what language the first IE settlers spoke and most Y-DNA in the Celt Belt is R1-b. Mt-DNA is more difficult to place

right, but I think we're looking at "celticness" culturally. Nobody gives a shit about minute differeces in genetic markers, especially when we're dealing with "races" who are really phenotypically similar..

Soldiers tend to beat warriors

People actually haven't always pronounced it like this?

I had read that it was a sort of "proto-basque" but yes the history is really murky. The takeaway is that there aren't any real sharp differences genetically between any group on the british isles. I mean there might be a little extra germanic here and there but by and large it's a big soup that all tastes the same.

My point being the genetics don't really play much of a part in celtic identity. It's more complicated and nebulous.

>My point being the genetics don't really play much of a part in celtic identity. It's more complicated and nebulous.
you're right. People talking about "Celtic genes" is my pet peeve

Blame sports.

Boston's NBA team calls themselves the seltics.

Celts a shit, enjoy being confined to the coasts of the Atlantic.

>we wuz

Would you really tell a Welshman or Irishman that they're larping?

Why the fuck would Celts be middle eastern looking? They originated in the Halstatt culture in modern day Germany

Rekt

This

I will thanks, enjoy your jihad

"selt" was the sole pronounciation until the mid-19th century when some Irishfags started complaining about. I have no idea why they insisted so much on using the classical Latin pronounciation when "celt" was never a Celtic word and the Celts never called themselves anything like it.

>he isn't a New World Anglo

Woah
So my family has celtic ancestry?
Nice

That's for you to look into, maps can't say much considering the ebb and flow of different folk and cultures. What's your surname? That's the go-to to rally see what you ought to identify with.

Do the Celts here specifically refer to the Gauls?

No Celts were repulsive savages.
