Beat Generation

Who is your beat poet? I've always identified with Kerouac "On the Road" defined alot of my transition to adulthood

also is there any comparable "brat pack" comparable to the beats in the modern day?

Is there an actual good example of beat generation....?

Tried reading on the road. It's one of the blandest, most pointless, boringest piece of shits my eyes has ever shit all over.

Like....extremely boring plot, semi-dead characters. But...I kind of figured the saving grace is it might be told in an interesting voice or beat generation language or something, but now. He throws in a, "You dig?" like every 6 pages, but seeing how the rest of the prose is so bland and boring, it seems out of place and forced.

There's DFW and his New Sincerity pals. And Bret Easton Ellis was part of some literary brat pack. I forget what it's called but it's on his Wikipedia page if you're that interested.

on the road is a great book imo, but i understand that you are of an ascended level of intelligence so nothing can ever just be "not to my taste" it has to be "the bmost pointless" and the "blandest thing I've ever read. maybe read howl, since it isn't as well known and there's less of a chance your 14 year old hipster brain will shit on it

Would Burroughs have been a better writer if he wasn't on acid 24/7 or did the drugs help him?

On the Road sucks major cock, user. Might as well kys.

let me guess, it's also the only book you ever read?

It's called Brat Pack kek

For me, it’s the chicken mcnugget.

Skiddily beat bop boo, mon ami.

and if it was his only book? so what? it has enough value in it that it can put his life in a fine direction,

I bet everything that you have read is a laughing stock compared to "On The Road", with that I don't mean the books itself but your interpretation of them

Stingily beat sad bing...

that cut deep.

Even though he isn't really a beat poet (though he is contemporaneous with the beats), I'm fond of Frank O'Hara.

Burroughs was on heroin.

>not understanding my post

holy fuck you really have limited comprehension

maybe if he wasn't a pedo

I'm sorry for being so limited. Please make me like you.

nice comeback

I know, I know. Were you in my situation, you would have thought of a better one. I know that now. I'm going to go chop my testicles off and cry.

Kerouac for me too. I always liked that he was a merchant seaman and railroad brakeman to make ends meet before becoming a full time writer and drunk. It seemed more interesting than the usual teaching job most writers get stuck in.

But Burroughs snuff porn made me fap a lot and I never did heroin but snorting oxies was fun for a while (till I sold my computer in the middle of the school year and realized things were getting out of hand)

Also K was a mama's boy.

>he doesnt live his mama
