I really wanted a piece of Rick outerwear with a strap on it at one point, but I gave up searching after a poplin scuba jacket escaped me for a perfect price. I bought a new DRKSHDW exploder and it's been perfect, but I keep seeing Rick jackets with a strap and I become sick with envy. I have some old drkshdw jeans with a strap, how plausible would it be to take the strap off of them and sew it into the jacket?

I was asking about what my first Rick piece should be in the earlier thread and it seems like a double layer tee would be a good idea. How do they tend to fit? Size up/down?

size down usually, they stretch out, and you want them to be fairly fitted to get the stacking effect

I'm meh on the idea. The strap is actually sewn between the lining of the bid and the sleeves, which anchors it without putting excessive tension anywhere. If you sew a new strap in, you'll have to pinch the two pieces of lining together as you sew it. This creates an uneven distribution of tension, and will probably rip the lining of the jacket if you use the strap enough times.

That being said, a good tailor could probably do it - they would just have to unstitch the lining and work the strap in correctly.
