Dont get me wrong, I've spent over $450 on a pair of shoes before, but they were dress shoes and I work in a rich/conservative industry, so some people actually do take note of the quality of your shoes.

CPs are popular here because they're just expensive enough to seem exclusive but still be obtainable to a student working a minimum wage job, while plain and ordinary enough that no one in their shitty small town will give them shit for wearing

To me they are just the perfect minimalist sneaker and the EU price is pretty worth it for something I enjoy. Also like that it's just very understated, fits with almost anything and isn't seen as flexing.

I don't understand why people think common projects are bad because they're expensive, they're just not made for people like you. Common projects are not special, there's no point if you have to save to buy them, just get something cheaper or something more interesting at that price point. they are just inspired by the cheap german ones. they aren't manufactured in the same place or just rebranded as MMM or something. They are made in Italy just like CPs... not that "made in Italy" is an indicator that something is super high quality, but I don't see how saying mmm gats "cost $10" makes sense at all.

I bought CPs when I was 16, have to agree that they appeal mostly to teenagers. That being said, with a part time job and ebay the $300 I payed was pretty much nothing, don't regret it at all.
