I'm a phlebotomist at a plasma center. I stick needles in poor people all day because they fucked up in life somewhere and can't pay their bills.

I run room service in a hilton and bus in the restaurant.

I also barback sometimes.

The plasma center near my apartment has a line outside every morning way before doors open, especially on Fridays and Saturdays

The area I'm in is fairly low income, but it's not a very big city so we're usually not too bad. We're mostly busy Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday but mostly later ~3:00. Pay is shit, but I like my coworkers and once you stop giving a shit about the donors it makes work much easier.

I'm a different person than the guy you responded too, but I could not disagree with you more. I used to be a phlebotomist in a hospital and it was horrible. Severely underpaid, over worked, and understaffed. Most everyone there left for jobs at plasma centers, labcorp, or doctor's offices.

I'm a waiter at a fancy restaurant now and the pay is way better than I ever made as a phlebotomist which is super sad desu

It's cool to see them go from newbies to seasoned vets who get respect from pretty much the entire staff for being badasses at their jobs
and one of them even got into a histology tech program thanks to the pathologist in charge of that lab

Thank you for restoring my faith in nurses and hospitals in general, I wish we were treated with respect at my old job. The hospital I worked at basically treated us like c-diff laden shit. I hope the atmosphere has or will change though, good communication and mutual respect between healthcare workers is vital!

Geology major. During the school year I play a sport for my uni which gives some scholarship money and I bounce. During summers I lifeguard and work doing construction. I honestly like it. Adults always make it sound like working is hard, but considering I spend 8 months out of the year working for free (in school, and it's way harder) I can't wait to graduate and start making real money. I don't know what poor people do with their money, i can already live off what I make and almost completely cover my tuition.
