Why did Stalin deport the Tatars from Crimea?
How much credibility is there in the official reason of collaboration with the Germans?
Why did Stalin deport the Tatars from Crimea?
bump
>claim to hate nazis / nationalists
>apply collective guilt to ethnic groups
Every time
Stalin didn't hate nationalism, though.
He was basically a Russian supremacist but he did declare to be against nationalism. Just commie things.
Lenin and the Old Bolsheviks declared to be against nationalism, Stalin himself abandoned most of those tenants when he shot the Old Bolsheviks.
A central part of Stalinism is the country, that's why it's called "Socialism in One Country," and a chief aspect of it is Soviet socialist patriotism, or "Soviet nationalism."
So, he singled out the Tatars because he viewed them to be against the "Soviet" people, not the "Russian" people. Stalin, himself, was a Georgian.
In the same sense Napoleon was Italian. Stalin changed his name to a Russian one and the entire USSR underwent severe russification under him.
This may have been a consequence of Russian nationalism working its way into the party, however.
Stalin published "Marxism and the National Question" in 1919 and was a proponent of korenizatsiya, the policy of "derussifying" indigenous peoples, earlier on.
Later on in his reign, especially after WW2, Stalin seemed to appeal to nationalist sentiments in the Russian population much more. This is evidenced by making Russian mandatory in all schools and so on.
So, I do believe that Russian nationalism had creeped into his specific form of Soviet nationalism, but I don't think that he separated the two in his own mind.
>being a Russian supremacist despite being an ethnic Georgian born in Georgia
Dude had issues, reminds me of that guy in the American Nazi Party who killed himself after a reporter published proof that he was a Jew
More like he revealed his power level after Lenin croaked.
>appeal to nationalism
He was the architect of that shit, that's why he purged all the Jews from the NKVD as well.
>Corsicans are Italians
Hello Nigel
Tbh, the Crimean Tartars deserved what they got. Their main contribution to world history was slave raids across Ukraine that depopulated half of the country for centuries.
>architect of that shit
Laughingjarchgettyandhistorians.ong
interesting, source?
>muh historical guilt
Guess we should deport everyone of British descent from America because of killing natives.
He was.
You know, that happened literally 200 years before WW2.
Only in the two ways that count, linguistically and ethnically
Natives are wildlife.
kek
>exterminating wildlife
>Good
talk shit, get hit
Yeah I guess the Ukes got what they deserved with the Holodomor for their actions in the Cossack uprising.
>implying
Any other reasons
Those who talked shit were long dead by that point.
And the ukranians aren't?
So that future generations could have qt part-Tatar Russians.
Disguss
That's the entire history of post soviet Russia in four words.
