What is some cool Veeky Forums books to read?

What is some cool Veeky Forums books to read?

I don't mean about fashion, but to make us a better person, whether to make us feel better about ourselves, become a better person, some influential books to inspire us or even great biographies.

Since summer is here, i like to be Veeky Forums in the park while i lay and chill, so need some books.

The Ego and It's Own

Doesn't get more effay than a story about a mediocre life followed by dying unceremoniously.

The catcher is the obvious cult classic. It inspired a man to kill John Lennon.

*Catcher in the rye

...

On the road

The sun also rises

This side of paradise

Catcher in the rye

This one, famalam. It talks about morality, aesthetics, life and shit.

Philip K Dick is my current fav author so I'd recommend A Scanner Darkly. Blows the movie away.

Just finished this about ~5 minutes ago. It's fucking phenomenal and you should read it. Excellent perspective on Bad Korea. BR Meyers has also done more recent talks on Kim Jong Un, which are pretty much required viewing after reading this book (he explains the Il Sung -> Jong Il -> Jong Un transfer of power in a very interesting way).

Holy shit, you're all 12.

This is a badass piece of writing.

And if you're a faggot and think reading philosophy for pleasure is for neckbeards.

Sounds interesting, will look into it.

Not that ugly af edition for sure

Genre fiction is not effay

Trainspotting is the most effay book

Siddhartha, the stranger, the Catcher in the rye are gud reads

Only valid answer

It's like you lurked for 5 min in /lit.
Recommending Ulysses w/o the background books
JUST

In case you feel like looking moody and unapproachable.

just read this and Eugene Thacker's Horror of Philosophy trilogy. Would recommend, mood and outlook on life was sufficiently depressed

>complains about reddit
>literally recommends the meme trilogy

it's bait right?

of the meme trilogy only Infinite Jest is even readable - the other two are just a complete mess

>to make us feel better about ourselves, become a better person
>Veeky Forums

oh fuck off spinoza isn't exactly easy to get through

next you're gonna tell me the Leibniz's Monadology is a great read

>Old meme trilogy
>>>r/books

>The Recognitions
>Women and Men
>The Tunnel

what are the background books

FUCK OFF

if ur gonna be a faggot and read philosophy for muh aesthetics in the public forum, stick with Camus' The Myth of Sisyphus or Aurelius' Meditations considering they both deal with arguably two of the most Veeky Forums of all things, suicide and stoicism.

bait

you're an idiot

...

Ishmael

Obviously you shouldn't sit down with a copy of the Ethics for some light bathroom reading, but his political treatise is very digestible. And, like I said, if that's not your cup of tea, is a perfectly good alternative, and much easier to approach on its own.

The book pook is great.

Harry potter

God Emperor of Dune

easy

you just spoiled the fucking book dude

I have that same edition sitting on my book shelf, and I'm re-reading Heretics of Dune right now.
Anyone who likes Dune should read Asimov's Foundation Trilogy; it's similar in scope if not in subject matter.

Trumps 'the art if the deal' does the trick for me. It gets all the sensitive ladies swooning round me

kek

It literally tells you how much his death didn't matter on the first page.

It's effay, but wether or not you'll like it is quiet hard to answer.

>people posting entry level lit on a fashion board
>must be from reddit
