imagine how and where different people will see the tattoo

get a tattoo that looks good to you personally, it might be at a funny angle to a viewer

get a tatoo too fine and it quickly becomes indistinguishable to people a few meters away

get one too small on a large area and it looks like a blob or a scar or something

your tattoo idea is neat, but it won't stand out because the positive/negative space is too fine
black and white look like grey when they are too close together

How does Veeky Forums feel about getting "tribal" tattoos but actually knowing the proper designs and their meanings, and actually belonging to the ethnicity and speaking the language.

It's a dead tradition but the practice is very slowly being revived by a number of people and I know a couple of them and an artist.
