Slavery would've end by the turn of the century (at the absolute latest) regardless. Especially if the war had been won in 1863 or 1864 after the extraordinary carnage and destruction of the war had irrecoverably affected Southern society or if the Confederacy had adopted Cleburne's proposal of emancipating slaves in exchange for military service earlier and had managed to turn the tide. Cleburne himself remarked in his writings that his proposal for arming slaves would effectively be the end of slavery, but that it was still preferable to Northern subjugation.

The very act of secession and going to war basically shot the institution of slavery in the foot with a .69 Caliber Buck n' Ball musket. Even in the best of circumstances, the South would've been left with a less than friendly neighbor who would be willing to either finance slave revolts to destabilize the country or at the very least be accepting of escaped slaves, an army that wasn't sufficient in size to put down the next John Brown wannabe, and a poor white population that would have been increasingly unwilling to do the bidding of the Planter class.
