serious question for my fellow americans: do you think "made in the usa" is a meme? be honest. Are your usa-made garments and shoes actually of a higher quality and construction than your made in china or made in vietnam shit?

I don't know about quality, I just like supporting my economy rather than China's

Yeah usually, I bought some made in the usa flannels and they were much thicker than all of my other ones.

It's a huge meme because 99.9999999% of the republicucks that screech about "nuthin bein made n' MURCUH (FERK YEEAH) nemore" DON'T buy anything made in America aside from their poorly-machined Harley Davidsons.

They'll take one look at how much a two-pack of tees from Lady White Co. costs, schreech "NINTEY DOLLARYDOOS!!!1111!!! I COULD BUY 10 OCTILLION AT DEM DER COSTCO FER $2!"

Same if they look at anything Rogue Territory sells.

It is of a higher quality as well as the fact that it isn't made with slave labor. Unlike a lot of health food products that are just selling you the idea of a better product rather than an actual better product the quality definitely shows in USA clothes

made in the usa is a meme across every industry

you have to take every product on a case by case basis and higher price generally means higher quality no matter where it's made

Boots
Socks (I don't know why this is the case, but it's true)
backpacks
anything military spec

my favorite outerwear is English, for some reason

No it's definitely higher quality, made in east asia shit will fall apart in two years if you're lucky.

that just depends on the manufacturer; I have a relative who moved to Vietnam so that he could be closer to the company he owns, and they're renowned for their quality

This.

Plus Americans work in better conditions.

That's absolutely not true at all. Is that how you kiddos justify Rick Owens garbage?

I honestly don't feel like they're finer quality, I just feel more patriotic wearing it.

higher quality control.

"Made in the USA" is the universal sign that you just paid too much.

The quality control argument doesn't pass the laugh test. Things are more expensive in the US either because some lazy unionworker made it as slowly as humanly possible, or because some hipster dumbasses who don't understand supply chains made it in their living room.

I'll pay the extra dollar to keep money in local economy as I'm an economic nationalist.

>it isn't made with slave labor
tell that to all the poor illegal immigrants working on those factories

I'm not sure about the rest of Veeky Forums but Rick Owens is not known as a high quality brand, people usually buy rick for the aesthetic design.

True patricians clothes are made in Europe (excluding some of those eastern European shithole countries tho)

But the beauty of America is that they can quit and find a different migrant job if they don't like it.

Because lady white co t shirts are a meme. A sucker is born every minute

Some required learning for everyone in this thread who actually believes there is a legitimate moral argument for buying American

Europe is a meme, it's obviously better than china/vietnam/whatever but the quality can vary. Japan is good and more consistent.

Yes, the quality tends to be higher, but it's also more expensive. You get what you pay for.

You can get whatever quality you like from China but the reason they get it made in China is to get it made CHEAP. They're not paying the chinks to bring their A-game.

When a company makes their shit in the USA the factory is more answerable because they are more local and everyone is speaking English.

>Brand that rarely, if ever gets mentioned on here
>Meme

K buddy.

Lemme guess, you still think Tricky Ricky Tikki Tavi is "underground"

you retard do you not know what "generally" means?

K Buddy.

Lemme guess you look like pic related.

srsly ladywhite t shirts are a meme because they're thin as fuck and probably same quality as dick owens. I want a thick t shirt that fits right and can fade and take a beating dumb faggot.

>But the beauty of America is that they can quit and get deported back to where they came from
Ftfy

theres nothing wrong with the quality of trick mick tshirts tho

honestly man if you can't tell the difference (by looking/feeling the fabrics and details) between a made in usa '70s pendleton shirt, or a pair of 500$ Red Wing boots, and their chinese counterpart, you should probably quit decent clothing and spend your money at walmart

whats the chinese counterpart to a made in usa '70s pendleton shirt

a chinese 70s army shirt? a chinese 70s mass produced shirt? any bullshit that costed a dime in the 70s? Are you retarded?

can you show me some examples of 70s chinese army and mass producded shirts and tell me how theyre counterparts to made in usa '70s pendleton shirt and detail how their fabrics and details look/feel different from them

tahnks

Check how a made in china product from the 70s 80s or 90s is preserved right now, and see the difference between a USA, Italian, or english made equivalent piece from the same period. You will learn that stuff made better lasts longer

I'm a union worker and we tend to feel strongly about "made in america."
With some products they are truly better quality - tools for example.
Even those are sometimes "assembled in America with global materials."
With other things they are basically a meme.
American made clothes are probably a meme.
The car with the most American made parts is the Toyota Camry, so American made cars are a meme.

Do you think Pendleton makes flannels only? They make/made Camp shirts, rayon shirts, heavy cotton twill (army-like) shirts and basically any other outerwear piece of garment? Google their vintage stuff and then google any vintage chinese made counterpart/equivalent piece. Or actually own certain pieces and feel the difference.

Not speaking only about Pendleton, that was only a quick example. You could do the same for, say, Aigle of Scotland, Polo Ralph Lauren, Barbour, etc

The difference is in the use of yarns, the strenght of the stitching, single stitching vs double/triple stitch, cut, properly made trimmings vs no trimming, strenght and durability of the fabric, etc
Sorry for certain words I dont really know the exact english translation as Im not english mother tongue.

>But the beauty of America is that they can quit and find a different migrant job if they don't like it.

>lazy unionworker
hope you get shot on sight by a socialist death squad, desu

They're patterned after 1950s shirts, which were thin as fuck.

Also "meme" means oversaturated, not "I DUNT LYKE IT"

nice job taking the high road faggot

read as: people with differing political opinions are poor and not as intelligent as my superior liberal arts intellect

The "made in..." label isn't a consistent marker of quality in the first place.

Materials and fabric and some construction can be made up elsewhere and the finishing touches done in the final destination country to have the tag.

So there is a chance your American made stuff is basically made in China but finished up (tagged, packaged, etc) in the US.

For argument sake if its made 100% in the US, made in China doesn't always mean poorer quality. Visvim moved their production there and seemed fine, and theres a few local Chinese brands doing some solid work over there.

Not really, a fuckload of the "MUH HERITAGE"-CORE are conservative.

It's just that those conservatives ACTUALLY support the American manufacturing they claim to love, vastly unlike the people I was mocking in that post.

>1950s shirts

wow thats really gay. gb2 2009 with your lumbersexual shit queer

>higher price generally means higher quality no matter where it's made
That's also only true on a case-by-case basis. Congratulations on being a total fucking tool who isn't capable of simple reasoning.

...

>hurr durr i said "generally" that means i have an easy cop out if anyone proves my point wrong xDDD
Literally KYS.
