The northern kingdom won, yeah, but only because the other two sides lost their best soldiers first. The Three Kingdoms were the Three Kingdoms for so long because there were amazing warriors and generals on each side, with the best of them, Zhuge Liang, with Shu, the southwestern kingdom. As soon as he died, the north, Wei, was able to take Shu, then later Wu, and reunite the Empire.

I like my theory better, more down to earth and less romanticized and hey it predicted the outcome.
