Alright user, thanks for the positivity. Maybe it doesn't look that bad with wavy hair, it's just an undercut anyway. I really hope my barber doesn't fuck up though.

OP here. Apparently what I want is called a "disconnected undercut." Right now I just have long top + short sides without the "disconnecting" part. Looks good though.

Oh shit, I'm this user and this is exactly what happens to me too. Last time I called him out for cutting it wrong he told me that's how your supposed to cut it or something. I'm scared he'll fuck up again and the months of growing it out go to waste.

Undercut + curly hair makes me think it would end up looking something like Rami Malek's hair. Which would be a good thing, in my opinion.

Not him, but I've generally seen the Hitler youth as closer to this. Disconnected undercut is buzz the entire sides and back with long on top, whereas Hitler youths tend to have fades or only buzz it up off the ears and the collar.

heres another example, notice how they tend to have fades on the side and combovers, rather than just flat white-walls.

Whereas this dude is rocking a disconnected undercut. I've always just envisaged it as being a slightly wider, slicked-back Mohawk essentially.

Go to a barber and ask him for a disconnected undercut and you'll look like jimmy darmody. Ask him for a "hitler youth" and he'll look at you like you're a fucking retard because, again, a "hitler youth" is not any specific haircut.

Its still important to make a distinction. people post photos like one on the left and get told to ask for an undercut, when the actual hairstyle is completely different. The "hitler youth" is a classic cut, left long on top.

looks like a 2 on the sides, hard to tell with the lightning if there's any fading but any disconnected undercut involves a single clipper length on the sides and back. Just 2 different hair lengths.
