He doesn't play poker

>he doesn't play poker

Why are you doing this? Didn't you know? You can be your own boss! All you have to do is git gud. (and have some money, of course)

Except with Internet tutorials and all that shit, nearly everyone plays halfway decent and you have to put in a lot of hours to be halfway profitable...

Or do it late at night when there are very few others playing.

Because it's a zero sum game. Any profit I make is someone else's loss.

I'd rather make money from something that I can be proud of

>play halfway decent

Most people still don't understand that they are being results oriented.

>i dont play cause zero sum

Dumbest thing I've read.

It's actually negative sum because of rake that goes to the casino.

That doesn't mean you can't be long-term profitable.

>he doesn't find rake free home games that are secure

Last time I played online was 4 years ago and the field got way tougher since the glorious 2000's.

It's an incredibly dull job if you are in it just for the money and playing for fun online is pretty pointless.

that's why you don't play online
what's with everyone and their hard on for online play
play live learn to read people and win

>when there will never be a poker general on Veeky Forums
>not enough faggots play

Just shut it down, already. Veeky Forums was a failure.

I don't know how to play, feels bad.

or play online in teams

I love how you include Phil Hellmuth on a post with git gud, not knowing the average online players has a better theoritical understanding of poker.

sites know how to pick this up
my friends have lost a lot of money trying to do this
i just laughed at them

The metagame is always changing, and so are the theories. A solvable game, maybe, but online is dead. Live is where it's at.

>people still only focusing on online play

What is this, 2006?

>online is dead
>mfw i made 11K in january playing sit and go's

People saying online is dead just don't want to put the work in. There will always be gambling addicts wanting to lose money to you

Online is dead due to higher cost to play with an increasingly segregated pool combined with the plethora of bots and cheating.

Try playing LIVE poker. You know, where you actually have to face your opponent, instead of hiding behind a computer screen. Why do you think most online pros are scared to play live?

you are litteraly a meme, 'live poker is real poker'

that shit is like the motto of every washed up 30+ year old that can't beat online

you're $/h is way higher online, because you play way more hands, no matter how good your hurr durr soulreads are

Btw, i have played up to 5/10 NL live, but the variance is way too high because you play not enough hands

When you play one table, you're winrate per 100bb will go up. The more tables you play, the more it goes down. Though, this is offset by volume.

Playing live generally increased your winrate per 100bb by 10x.

I started out playing online until black friday happened. Where I literally couldn't play online. Then the offshore sites started coming online offering up 100nl. With the sites I play on, there are maybe like three tables of 100nl. Plenty of 50nl tables, though.

Then again, these sites I play on operate illegally. Even if it were legal, the player pool would be segregated, not like it was before. The liquidity just isn't there. I just play to study and practice and kill time when it's online.

I can't play 500nl or 1knl online.

>hurr durr soulreads

Have you ever heard of "perfect poker"? You can't play the strategy online.

See, this is where I can tell you're a fish.

>variance is too high

You either have the equity or you don't. The results don't matter.

>being a results oriented donkey

You want to be playing when a lot of bad people are also playing.

Sometimes, it's better to play with better people. There can be a thing of being too bad to play. When people don't know what they are playing, you can't figure out how to play against them. Once that happens, you can't effectively do a lot of things like stealing or squeezing. Which means you're left playing your cards. You ideally want someone just underneath your skill level so you can exploit them.

It's true, dirt cheap MTT's are just a joke, pure luck game.

why is saying "variance is too high" a meme?

I don't play poker but surely you're going to see situations where the decision is to go all in or call an all in , and in those situations where the most money is on the line, even if you've played well so it was a respectable decision to go all in or call an all in, you'll still get beaten sometimes.

So you can easily lose a lot of money from making good decisions.

Depends on many factors, if you play the pot odds correctly, have a solid game and correct brm you will beat variance,

You gotta know the maths to know why that doesn't matter long run, if you read harrington on holdem it'll teach you a lot.

You're being results oriented. You can incorporate a RNG into your game to call off with, amongst other things. To just call or even fold, because there IS a chance you can lose, even though you're most likely to win, is what losing players do.

By playing scared, you're going to create a very obvious range that everyone that's paying attention and knows how to play against will start picking you off. You'll also give up value when you should be maximizing it.

The way to combat variance is to adjust your bankroll.

Only plebes delude themselves into thinking gambling is the surefire way to wealth and riches.

The rest of us use savings and wise investment.

>going all in with 90% equity
>gambling

REEEEEEEEEEEE

What you grind, any hud's? Whats your brm?

i use poker tracker but only when im playing 1/2 live and for anything higher i use jivaro

i play on at least ten buy ins live for any stake

online poker is illegal in my state. and it is too far to drive to live poker casino.

There is a casino place near me. Should I go someday?

get your feet wet by putting 20-100 on a site and playing their lowest stakes if you've never played

Heh I dont even know how to play poker. I have seen it being played in movies though.

It's boring and gay.

And less than 1% of the players make money

And less than .01% of the players make any money worthwhile.

Shits gay and there's no glory for sitting at a table playing the exact same game for thousands of hours.

>making money is gay

Im not 21 yet so what do u think of using my moms info to get into tables

>identity fraud
Sure go ahead

i'd suggest playing play money instead LOL
or just get a 20 and play with some friends
though i think it's stupid that you can't play poker at 18.

Yeah... right...
