Honestly, it looks pretty decent for a student already. Just keep all the white shit clean, and get some nice sheet sets for your bed.

I'd get plants - one or two large ones for the floor, and smaller pots to place around - but I know not everyone likes them so idk.

I wouldn't even bother with an area rug, since they're kinda shit to deal with frequent moving.

Switch that little tree picture to something large and impactful that you like.

Lots of older loudspeakers look similar to those. Honestly, try "antique" stores or thrift/craigslist. I used to have a pair of AR3a's, which are somewhat similar.

This one's nice. It feels warm and inviting despite the shitty mattress on floor setup. The books on top of the turntable and crumpled Guernica on the floor are kinda triggering me but other than that pretty nice.

former resident said it was actually under 1k. It was on a less than safe side of Chicago and a pain in the ass to heat.
