I think you're right about the quasi-formal stuff but cropped is the right way to go with them imo.

They're a hard shoe to incorporate into a fit.

The reason they're so expensive and have such an inflated price is the huge demand and relatively short supply for them.

Raf is a hugely niche brand/designer and relies hugely on a very specific market of people buying a whole lot of thier clothing.

As soon as they get to stores they're gone within a week and you get people selling them on ebay for nearly double the original price because people want a limited product.

Designers arent stupid. They see this happening and create an artificial shortage for the product and slap a huge price tag on, then trickle said item out to stores.

The same thing happens with certain rick owens items, but with less exaggeration You see the same pieces going in a clearence sale 11 months from now for 1/8th of the price people were buying it for when it was at the height of season.
