get on my level lads

Never really was interested in photography until I took a course in it (well, it is only 3 weeks and is a part of a bigger course about media and shit). Our uni lets us loan their Nikons D5000 for one day so naturally I took one for our assignment. I've spent about 5 hours out in the field with it. Had a fucking blast, never thought I would like taking photos that much. Really don't want to give the camera back tomorrow ;_;

Anyway, what's a good entry level system camera? I already know some basics like ISO, shutter speed, diaphragm etc.

5D classic + 35 f2 non IS or fuji x100 series, only ones worth their price atm

sony a6000 is probably the best mirrorless, and is an amazing camera. The fact that its smaller and lighter just play into the fact that you'll take it with you more often

If you're planning on doing any kind of video, the upgrade to the 6300 is definitely worth it.
It has optical stabilization, 4k video, and the resolution on the viewfinder is a lot clearer.
One overlooked improvement is build quality. The 6000 has no metal frame in it's construction; it's made entirely of composite material. The 6300 and the 6500 both have magnesium frames.
Unfortunately the one improvement we didn't see on the newer models was an increase in battery life, although that's a simple fix. Overall a phenomenal camera.

Too bad the kit lens is pure ass.

This. Paired with a good prime and it's the perfect walk around camera. The Sigma 60mm f2.8 pretty much lives on mine. Pic related.

Agreed about the build quality. The a6000 is solid but in the end it's plastic. I need dat alloy. Also the 6500 is amazing in the fact that it has IBIS. The possibility of using it with a tonne of old legacy lenses is exciting as hell. A price drop can't come soon enough.

yet to finish a roll with it but the stock 49mm f1.8 is so tasty

Argus C3. My camera of choice. Bonus points cuz I'm from A2.

howard?

this. X100 is easily one of the sexiest cameras ever made and you can get a used x100 or x100s for like 400 to 500 bucks.

Not Howard m8 sorry.

Also, pic related is probably the most effay camera and lens I own - 1982 Contax RTS II (body designed by Porsche) with a Carl Zeiss 50mm f1.7 Planar.

Nikon F2 + 50mm f/1.2 for Veeky Forums appeal.

There's usually more availability for Canon gear on used markets, but Nikon ergos are clearly better. Look for a used Nikon D700 if you don't need video, or a Canon 5d Mkii if you do. With the availability of used gear, you've really got no reason to ever start on a cropped sensor. Start with full frame from the get-go and pick up some bargain lenses when they pop up.

one and only

>recommending a beginner a FF camera

The market is different to when I (and, probably, you) started. You can get a reasonably used full frame camera for the same price as a new entry-level crop, or a decent point and shoot. You'd have to be clueless or impatient to buy something else.

I just picked up an F-1 N, with a 50mm f/1.4, but I used to use a 7D which was great for filming and speed shooting.

ff/crop shouldnt matter for begiinners or pros user

...

you win

>The market is different to when I (and, probably, you) started.
That's true. Options were meager when I started, particularly on the used market.

I guess I'm admittedly stuck in my ways but I always see FF as this big jump. Plus user enjoyed shooting with a D5000 of all things so I probably would've just encouraged him to buy a used D90 or D7000 for the dual control dials and bigger vf along with the 35mm 1.8 lens and maybe another cheap AF-D prime. Maybe even a mirrorless if he enjoyed the smaller form factor.

Of course. Went from crop to FF and back to crop again and enjoying the fuck out of it.

yes

buy a modern camera don't buy shitty old cameras with shitty old sensors

t. 54 year old pixel-peeping hobbyist that watermarks the photos he posts on the dpreview forums and has shot "a wedding or two"

I have a feeling this is just presets like VCSO.

What a disappointment.

Nikon d5300.

Cheap (becuase newfags buy d5500 for Bluetooth, idiots) has 39 autofocus points.
Has flip screen so you can vblog like the narcissist you are.

40mm af nikkor lenses (1:1 macro) so you can get nice portrait shots while telling all your friends what 'bokeh' is.

post pics
60mm i found to be useless

for sorry

if you're a cutie then this

whats a camera that is cheap and looks good

i dont give a shit about the photos i take, i just wanna look good doing it

koni omega hands down

Lmao I have this

why wasn' this thread ever pruned

I still have my old Nikon D40 DSLR laying around, which still shoots great pictures even though it was released over ten years ago and produces 6 MP images.

Unfortunately, I do not own a functioning pc at the moment, so I currently shoot with this Asahi Pentax SP500. Picked it up some time ago for cheap with a 55 mm and 135 mm lens. Still need to buy myself some o-rings to make a modern battery fit for the light meter, so in the meantime shooting completely in manual mode. Chance all of my photos will turn out like complete shit, but it is a good way to force me to shoot in manual mode. Owning a DSLR made me too lazy.

Kill self

I have the SP1000 and enjoy it even more every time I use it. Though mines battery door has seen so much use with a coin opening and closing it I can't even get it opened.

> i just wanna look good doing it
same, hence why i made the thread :DDDD

because its worthwhile for the photographers user

sorry forgot to mention a camera.
couple of options for dirt cheap film cameras

kiev 4a
canon 7s
fed 5b

it's merely the light meter after all

how much did you pay for it?

Yeah it doesn't take much to learn how to meter.

$21 in meh condition.

Is there a way I can rent a camera or something like from a camera library? I'd hate to spend a bunch of money and not use it.. I just wanna play around a bit

A local studio should have that facility

it violates the only board rule
they can talk about photography on fucking /p/

its about what looks good while also functioning well. also /p/ is a dramafaggotry shithole

>also /p/ is a dramafaggotry shithole
so is this board

none of the posts in this thread are about fashion, fuck off

- literally colloquial for "Fashionable camera + lens setups"

also, /p/ drama is a lot worse than anything thats happened here.

have you guys tried changing the body of the camera? I hate all black cameras and the red nikon d3k ones are disgusting

My baby

ur rite user

any one recco some good camera straps?

Can we see some pictures taken with the cameras posted on here? I'm trying to find out a camera that can take shots like pic related

...

nice meme

semi-goat

bit less but still good

pic related will never be supassed

no not effay related as said. it's just vsco

just buy a half decent compact and take some daylight photos with 200 colour film

buy an mju or something, they're overrated but they're the quintessential 'i wish I was in the 90's and want to make my own zine' camera, easy to use too.

a leica, you'll probably never even shoot it just wear it around your neck lmao

Thanks man! Much love!
