the thing that makes me enjoy rick and morty is more the parody of normal media and common plot structures. It's more refreshing to see a show that doesn't care instead of a huge self important epos like game of thrones.

He's right about some of this but the show is actually very light on references from what I remember, so that critique misses the mark. It's also possible to enjoy something without agreeing with the philosophy behind it. (And even stupid philosophies are philosophies) I do personally dislike the shitty, passive, "whoa everything is subjective and nothing matters" nihilist kind of thinking, if that wasn't obvious.
