Because it's fun. You should join in, buy some ethereum

Ethercuck cope.

Biz confession, Treasury joint Operative under FBI Guidance ; i've been to over 100 but less than 200 anti counterfeit / laundering stings this year and 27 have involved deaths of the perpetrators. We receive digital information from the big banks on suspicious currency. The deal is we reimburse the banks to gain possession of evidence and perpetrator information. From the initial deposit of counterfeit currency warrants are pulled and gps units installed. Often the perps visit casinos at which we pull security footage then reimburse the establishment for evidence, often the machine rejects the currency and we're notified. Others play tables because they just swipe a marker and cash it for chips play hands cash out clean. When we gather sufficient evidence, our already pulled warrants allow us to drop doors guns blazing. I'm only armed with a pistol, forensic kit, and vest. I'm the last one in when I am cleared for entrance. My job is to analyze currency and counterfeiting technologies on scene for the next 3-11 days during which we'll clean the scene and wait for anyone that comes knocking. The perpetrators usually have no mercy in court and not being able to afford a lawyer get assigned a shitty state lawyer they're usually sentenced to 5 years, one got 45 years because of the deaths during the sting operation, it fucking wakes me up at night I was standing by our truck and a guy jumped from the second floor running at me with a pistol, he fired to shots hitting the truck taking cover I emptied a mag not looking while reloading cowering our sniper offed him with a .380 I fucking thought I died when I saw a pool of blood at my feet then saw the man collapse beside me still leaning on the truck. He still wanted to shoot me but couldn't lift the gun and I kicked it away. When our EMT showed up he said the guy won't make it just as he started convulsing.

Wow. You're living a hollywood movie.
How did you guys figured out these were the guys counterfeiting? What were their mistakes on gettin caught?

true version:
>went to a suspect's house
>he was black so we shot him in the stomach
>"you're not going to make it"
>hour later the suspect's chalk white we call EMT
>EMT says "he's not going to make it lol"
then we went to a poor neighborhood and arrested kids walking to school for truancy lel the thin blue line

Nearly impossible.

EVEN IF you could make some decent counterfits, you could only use them for a while before someone would figure it out and you get busted. You would have to always be on the move. And you could never buy any real shit like a house.

Some literally try to deposit bills right off the mill. Banks accept and we're notified, accounts are frozen under the suspicious transaction excuse depending on the amount we incur losses to continue investigating if we believe it might be a big fish. Frequently we authorize the accounts to be unfrozen after having our necessary warrants to monitor outgoing transactions. Some successfully wash the currency and we loose evidence because we know bills are coming in bad but do not know the origin. I keep trying to off the new guy that says "fingerprint" the bills. He's only in for 2 more weeks and he's going to Arizona for the rest of the year. Strip clubs loose when counterfeiters exchange bills for 1s. We followed a guy that eventually caught on because a rookie changed costume but kept the ray bans after following him to 7 different strip clubs in the dallas - fort worth area. We had to cut the investigation short and make the arrest.

HOLY SHIT I WANT THIS TO BE REAL

Can you post some kind of image? Anything to show some credibility to this story?

That is so damned awesome.

Keep up the good work.

kek

why isn't this in the news more? would it discourage people? or encourage more home-brew counterfeit operations to start because people realize it's not impossible with some initiative?

What are the best forgeries you've come across? and the worst?

and why doesn't the US have polymer bills yet?

The casino thing checks out - friend of mine is a pit boss and secret service sniffs around all the time (apparently their other job is counterfeit related)

Please learn the difference between "loose" and "lose", friend.

badass as fuck, damn.

Do you like your job?

Hardest and most favorite parts?(no cliche memes please)

Can't call any good due to reasons but a bad one.. Store owner visits the bank to exchange tattered and taped currency. Normally the banks are fine with a percentage of the bill present, however the tape on a bill was awkwardly placed and turned out to be counterfeit currency pieced together with legitimate currency. Many of the bills had the same pattern and we began to investigate the store owner. Eventually he made another delivery of tattered bills and did it a few more times before we determined it to be the work of one man taking advantage of a little store by narrowing down suspects and visit intervals.

On scene there's usually no man or woman that could safely speak in public about what ocurred. Additionally because the towns are usually small anyone involved would immediately hit the highway to Mexico.

ever take part in something like this?
reason.com/blog/2015/05/01/irs-steals-107000-from-convenience-store

ever had your shit pushed in?

what the fuck am i looking at

HOW fucking common is this shit?

How much money have you personally dealt with being counterfeit/scale of operations in your time thus far?

how much is the issue estimated at?

Also:
What are some solutions that you can think of to end the counterfeiting problem? - Do polymer bills fix the issue or are they still capable of being counterfeit? Is there anyway to really shut down this problem forever? Seems a little slacky on the US fed reserve part because the bills are like 50 years old and extremely easy to fake apparently

Had to shit in a bucket of sawdust and rags for 3 days because when we arrived to make the bust high value targets arrived and we vacated the area, however the vehicle I got thrown in was part of surveillance.

Reported to the FBI, hope you're behind seven proxies.

Acknowledged, but can't comment.

We'll have the problem until the FED makes a mandatory currency recall of unsafe/unfit bills but that would be disastrous to the world's economy.

Can you answer any of the others?

absolutely amazing. trying to make double off counterfeit currency.

for the record, in the US currency has a "life cycle", and banks will accept downwards of 1/3 of a bill, provided their is a visible serial number. if you don't have an account with them, you'll likely have to provide ID. bills are expected to "live" for... two years, I wanna say?

it's pretty smart, actually. I've found money many times that got run over by lawn crews and such... I bet people passed it by, grumbling. haha suckers.

*they have a life cycle, and tearing is an expected part of that cycle. d'oh!

>HOW fucking common is this shit?
Not very common if considering population density of a city. The impact is mostly insignificant. However a previous post about a store that had funds seized ... it's on occasion that our investigation if it last long enough before being closed brings us to an establishment that operates at a business scale we cannot calculate nor determine how it even got to the point in middle of nowhere USA. From there it's on the watch list.
>How much money have you personally dealt with being counterfeit/scale of operations in your time thus far?
Yearly 60-90k total near 400k operations usually are very small because the counterfeiter get comfortable and build a big case file. They're often alone on their scheme and rarely make associates. There is an odd number that fake money for clubs and drugs without progressing in life.
>how much is the issue estimated at?
There's too many numbers getting thrown around, inside of the U.S. we don't have a billion dollar problem but Mexico is really screwing our statistics the drug money creates dead end false positives that usually get sent to another agency to investigate ties to organized crime.

>Sniper offed him with a .380
No he didn't. That's stupid. This post is stupid.

this. lol.

/k/ is loling at you faggots.

this
anything that gets shilled this much is automatically ignored.

dunno but the usd is a joke it's like game money or something when i deposit usd in a bank they scrutinize every piece for like half an hour.
when i use the local currency they just put it in a machine that counts it and that's the procedure.
